My favorite Saffron Road simmer sauce! It is true that it does not have a lot of flavor on its own but your aren't supposed to pour it on top after you're done cooking. I live alone and it's not safe for me to cook anymore so if it's not microwavable, it doesn't get bought. I put frozen vegetables in a bowl, add frozen philly steak from Schwan's and cook 4 minutes in the microwave; Then I top with the simmer sauce and cook another two minutes. and pour it over Japanese syle rice. If I want more flavor, I add a few drops of Vietnamese oyster sauce or shave a little parmesian cheese on it. Sometimes I eat it with tortellini instead of rice. Keeping in mind that there was no spice in the rest of the world hotter than black pepper and ginger until the Spanish invasion of the "New World, this sauce has a true flavor of the far east. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the slight tendency towards tasting insipid but it's easier to add flavor than to take away from something that is unbearable..

I found a bag of this stuff at a local meat market, for about $7, and loved it. I used stew meat and simmered the meat for several hours in this stuff with some water thrown in for cooking. When I went back to the market, they were out and didn't know when they'd get more, so I hit up reliable Amazon and found it without fail, plus at a much cheaper price overall, as long as you don't mind buying in bulk.
First of all, just looking at the ingredient list made me have no problem buying more... No long list of ingredients that need a chemistry degree just to read them, for the most part all natural ingredients, like pear juice and so on... And then when they arrived, I saw that it isn't a package of 7, there were 8 in the box, so it dropped the price per unit even more...
