Decent base camp tent.
Brendan BhaganJuly 18, 2017
I have used this tent twice already, I can put it up in 15 min and take down and pack away in 10. My sample is well put together with none of the bad stitching issues other reported and just a tiny pin hole in the inner, the stitching in some parts could be a bit better but its not terrible. The zippers are ok but I can see the need to put some wax to keep them lubed and dirt free or they will be trouble if not maintained. This tent is meant to be a base camp, setup once and you venture out from there as it is a bit on the heavy side on a long hike but manageable. It has similar geodesic design to many other much more expensive tents, like those some care is needed setting up compared to other general consumer tents which are for more forgiving. If you have some experience with how delicate some other high end gear ( especially light weight super thin tents ) can be you'll be fine with it, the cave isn't delicate but it is not built like a tank.
In my use the tent can handle some heavy winds and was completely water proof in torrential down pours , I did apply a coat of nikwax for UV protection on the fly. I appreciated its ventilation in the tropics, surprisingly cool and bug proof once you open them all up and the front vestibule is a nice touch to keep boots and rug sacks dry.

Awesome tent. Heavy, thick, warm. Just what you need for winter camping.

This thing is amazing.. to fold up small enough to fit into a backpack yet is very large and warm! the colors kick butt too, no weird Orange and yellow..

Has plenty of pockets on the inside, and vents! With the rainfly on, its super dark even during the day! I LOVE that about this tent... This is my centerpiece to all of my great camping gear!

So glad I bought it!
Oh my, what a great tent!

We have used this tent now for several single overnighters and one 8 day trip and it has been just amazing! The setup is easy and it is very comfortable, even in cold weather. The quality of this tent is so apparent in every detail; rip stop fly material, storage pockets the full length of both sides, vestibules at both ends, pockets inside for the screens, etc.. We have not yet had to fully tie it down for high winds but the tent is obviously made to handle this: there are Velcro straps at about 12 locations between the fly and the inner tent and also many tie downs on the exterior.

This is a tent that will be with us for a long time...

Awesome tent. Has 9 guy wires and uses 21 stakes. It's not going anywhere. Seams look nice and tight. Doors close off fully or unzip with mesh for ventilation. Only thing I can see that might be an issue is the tent is black and the fly is dark green so when you're inside it is DARK!!
