It is not all that. Just good enough.

It is good, at best. I wasn't expecting to save money with this purchase but I was happy with the reviews, so I went for it. I have being using it for a few weeks now, I feel comfortable point its shortcomings.
The thumb wheel is quite loose. I never saw one that didn't transmit a good grip when sliding. Also, the stickers looks rough around the edges, giving the impression that they will peel off sooner than later, giving an overall sense of less than average quality. Finally, the description states "Standard USB data output", which is not true. There is definitely an USB-like contact point, but it is not a proper connector, either male or female, which suggests that some sort of proprietary connect is required. It doesn't mean I could not use it, but I would need to modify a real standard USB connector to do so. I don't know if this is intentional or if my unit came with a missing connector.

It can. This is only a little bit more expensive than the non-absolute origin junk calipers that are all over Amazon nowdays, but it is in a whole other class. I bought another one to use at work. I am thinking of buying another one to put at the other end of my house, because I find myself using it ALL THE TIME. It is cheap enough that it doesn't trigger the "oh this is an expensive precision instrument that I must take care of" reflex (as compared to, say, a Mitutoyo) and as a result it sees a LOT more use than my old caliper ever received.

After watching GadgetClass's review, I bought this, instead of another brand. I wasn't going to spend this much, but I still needed the accuracy and consistency. I used to own a Mitutoyo years ago, with less functions, and with the small non-lithium battery. I no longer have the Mitutoyo, and this is way better than that. I also like the fact that it uses a large lithium cell (CR2030) which lasts longer anyway.

After owning and using dial calipers for more"‹ than 25 years, I decided it was time to finally upgrade to digital calipers. Like most of my purchases I researched different brands and models. I found a video of a gentleman comparing this exact model to a much more expensive set of Mitutoyo calipers. Knowing Mitutoyo is considered to be the industry standard, I really did appreciate this guys review. Let me add that I did purchase a 12 inch digital caliper from a box store in the past and they wouldn't calibrate. They were returned and money refunded. I use these every day at work and I am proud to lay these next to the Mitutoyo calipers that the company owns. One added perk is that these come calibrated with certification that some other brands charge quite a bit more money for.

Im a cnc machinest and these calipers are truly my favorite ones i actually prefer them to mitutyo. They are highly accurate i honestly think they are more accurate than mitutyo's and they come quality certified and i really like the fact that they came with the depth attachment and didnt make me buy it seperate. The absolute zero is spot on and the fractions button is super cool. I use these calipers about a hundred times a day and they are always dead nuts accurate. Ill definitely be buying another longer 8" or 12" set very soon
