Do a little research - maybe save a ton of money.

Bought a pair of these to fix my garage door opener motor. I had previously had someone out to service them and was told they were not repairable. A few minutes on Google led me to a Youtube video of a guy replacing this gear.I took of the cover of the motor and it was worn down to almost nothing. Each motor took about 30 minutes to swap this out, which would have been faster if I had a vice to hold the shaft in place.
7 bucks a gear vs $150+ for a new motor, easy choice.

LIFESAVER
E. L. Wiseman•April 17, 2017
WHAT A LIFESAVER. I LIVE IN STICKS AND TO FIND THIS PART WOULD BE NEAR IMPOSSIBLE (I CALLED A FEW GARAGE DOOR FOLKS AND OF COURSE THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY?) THIS PART CAME ON TIME AND PROPERLY PACKAGED. HOWEVER, IT WAS STATED THAT THE ITEM WOULD HAVE THE GREASE ALREADY ON UNIT. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. THERE WAS A DAB, BUT NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH. IF YOU ORDER, JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE GREASE YOU WILL NEED, BUT AGAIN, NO BIG DEAL. WONDERFUL DELIVERY SERVICE AND PART WORKED AS PRESCRIBED. ABOUT A 1 HOUR JOB AND NOW MY OPENER IS RUNNING PROBABLY BETTER THAN NEW!
Fits perfectly, easy to install, but buy a tube of grease!

My 1/2 HP chain driven Lift Master garage door opener stopped working after 8 years of daily use. Removal of the cover revealed a pile of white shavings and a worn gear.
I was going originally going to buy the entire kit: Liftmaster 41c4220a Gear and Sprocket Kit for Chamberlain, Sears, Craftsman and LiftMaster 1/3 and 1/2 HP Chain Drive Models. But after some research, discovered that all the other pieces rarely need replacing and it's much cheaper (and easier) just to replace the gear.
This gear worked perfectly and was easy to install. The toughest part was removing the pin that secures the dear to the shaft, I supported the shaft/gear on 2 blocks of wood and used a large nail and hammer to push it through.
The only negative on this product is that while the description says "pre-greased", it really isn't enough. Not a huge deal as you will need grease for other parts of the drive also, just remember to buy a tube along with this gear.

I got mine to work but there a a few things to consider when taking on this job. This gear is made of a relatively soft plastic so that it will wear on when the gears are stressed by an object blocking the movement of the garage door (in my case the door got caught against my car rear bumper). There are other advice but here is mine. 1) have the garage door in the closed position and do not pull the trackslider apart (the metal part attached to the chain). Because when you remove the chain from the motor you need put it back in the exact location. 2) As said, to remove the gear you take out the 8 screws of the housing then 3 screws at the top holding the big gear assembly and the pin at the bottom of the gear shaft. 3) to remove the pin holding the gear i took a chisel and hammered into the gear tooth to crack one side, then flipped it over and chiselled a crack on the other side. They the pin can be hammered out (I had to use a small allen socket to get it through the hole). Then replace the gear and pin by hammering the pin without damaging the gear tooth.4) after reassebling the gear and shaft make sure the chain is in the exact location otherwise you can damage the gear tooth again (as said previously)
Order with the right tools and make your life easier

The Gear came "pre-greased" but I put more on it regardless. Did not have separate grease tube. There are a number of youtube instructions to replace the gear. I recommend getting a 5/32 pin punch tool from Amazon along with this item (unless you already have one). I had to go to the local Home Depot to get a pin punch which they don't sell individually so I had to get a whole set. It will help remove the pin without issue. Garage is working again and so far so good.
