Darkens leather
David BeckerApril 16, 2017
This product darkens leather. I don't mean it KIND OF darkens leather. I mean it SIGNIFICANTLY darkens leather. I applied a moderate amount of Otter Wax to a pair of Clark's Leather Bushacre Desert Boots in the color called Beeswax. They changed from a honey color to chocolate brown. While the instructions on the can state, "Temporary darkening may occur," the shoes are undeniably darker five days after applying the Otter Wax. I would like to know from the company how they define the word "temporary." Apparently you need to plan ahead and wax your shoes two or three weeks before you plan on using them? Kind of ridiculous. (And yes, I've used many other brands of leather conditioner before, including Nikwax, Obenauf, and Sno-Seal.)
Completely worth it.

I usually wait a while to review a product like this so that I can spend some time experiencing it. For six months, I've been using Otter Wax on my Red Wing work boots and a leather motorcycle jacket I've been riding with for over 30 years. This wax can be hard to apply, but the results are worth it. With patience, you'll achieve a supple, durable finish. I now prefer it over mink oil for my leather stuff.
Great Natural Shoe Polish

A natural shoe polish. It is neutral (no color). This is my second can. This can seems to have more wax in the mixture than the previous can.
Otterwax worked great on my nubuck boots
ZREXFebruary 23, 2017
Otterwax boot wax is a unique product that is perfectly suited for nubuck. I have a pair of Rockport chukka boots that somehow got a stain droplet on one toe. I did everything I could to remove the stain, from Gojo hand cleaner to dish soap to saddle soap. The saddle soap worked to remove most of the stain but some discoloration remained. I decided to try to wax or otherwise treat the boots to protect them from further discoloration and try to even out the remaining slight blemish. After much searching for a product that would work on suede or nubuck, I found Otterwax. It arrived promptly on schedule. I applied Otterwax with a foam applicator, but I think a small polish brush, a cloth or even fingers would work just as well. It went on evenly and left a rich light caramel color on what had been very light colored boots. I let the first application dry overnight and then made a second application. I let that dry overnight and then buffed the boots with a shoe polish brush. The boots came out perfectly, and the the new tone is perfect as well. I like it much more than the dirt-magnet beige that was the original color. The boots are now water resistant and the surface is far more durable than as-made. I'm glad I bought the large size tin because I ended up applying it to several more pairs of shoes and boots. It's a great product that is made in the USA from natural ingredients. I intend to keep Otterwax on hand in my shoe polish box from now on.
works great

I recently ruined the finish on a pair of boots from snow and rain. I used this to protect them from further damage. Not only does this product waterproof it made my boots look immeasurably better.
This product is a solid hard wax. it was a little hard to get out of the tin. Also test a small patch because it made my boots darker.
