My Tasty Pregnancy Essential!
Sharlene Kozlowski✓ Verified Purchase•February 2, 2024
As a mom-to-be in her third trimester, ensuring a balanced and protein-rich diet became a top priority for me. That's when I discovered the Orgain Organic Vegan Protein Powder, and let me tell you, it has been a game-changer!
The chocolatey fudge flavor has become my absolute go-to. It's not just a protein supplement; it's a delicious treat that satisfies my sweet cravings while providing the extra protein needed for my growing baby. We've crafted the perfect shake by blending it with milk, banana, cinnamon, peanut butter, and honey "“ a concoction that not only tastes heavenly but also gives me sustained energy throughout the day.
While I'm head over heels for chocolatey fudge, I did venture into trying other flavors. Chai was a pleasant surprise for a change of pace, but not an everyday choice. Chocolate coconut was decent, but nothing beats the rich taste of chocolatey fudge.
A word of caution: steer clear of strawberries and cream! I attempted to curb a strawberry milkshake craving with this flavor, and it tasted more like medicine than a delightful treat. Regardless of how I tried to mask it "“ with milk or fruits for a smoothie twist "“ the medicinal undertones remained overpowering.
In conclusion, Orgain Organic Vegan Protein Powder has become my trusted companion on this pregnancy journey. It not only meets my nutritional needs but also satisfies my taste buds. For a healthy and tasty protein supplement, look no further "“ Orgain is the answer! Highly recommended for anyone seeking a delightful boost to their daily protein intake.

Best dairy free, GF protein powder - even my kids like it

Only 2 of us are dairy free and gluten free by force, and the other 1 can have both. He usually hates are dairy free, gluten free foods, but he actually likes the Orgain protein powders!
We've tried every single brand of vegan protein powder that's in a semi-reasonable price range, but the aftertaste of vegan protein is just terrible in general, and definitely an aquired taste. We found one other brand we liked more, but the value of Orgain was literally double for the same cost as the other brand we could only get at Target.
Chocolate fudge is our favorite flavor and we were buying it for a long time at Costco, then Sam's Club (cheaper there). Then Sam's Club was out of stock for soooo long, and I just assumed it would be more expensive on Amazon - but it was actually CHEAPER on Amazon! And that's when we discovered they actually had other flavors!
My preschool-elementary age kids and I have a protein shake for breakfast pretty much every morning. We usually blend it in the Vitamixer with spinach, peanut butter, cashew/almond milk, a handful of ice, and a banana.
A while ago, I purchase disposable cups with lids, so we can make protein shakes and then be on our way, without worrying they will spill them in the car. I kind of feel like I found the magic-nutritious-breakfast-formula for a busy family on the go with a wide range of kids ages!
Occasionally we'll drink it as an afternoon snack instead, and add a couple gluten free oreos, and skip the spinach (so it looks like a milkshake). The kids loooooove it and I feel like I'm getting a DQ treat.

Great Product

Is there something this product could improve on? Yes, because nothing's ever perfect. But as it is right now, it meets my needs terrifically.
Let's move on to the review.
PRO:
- Great solubility. I use a blender bottle (the bottle with a metal ball inside that can help you with blending powders.) Initially when I first combined almond milk with this powder, it still mixed well but there was sediment at the bottom that stuck to the side of the bottle and wouldn't dissolve. I fixed this issue later on by adding milk first and then powder. Problem gone and the mixture was finely integrated.
- Taste/Texture. As taste is subjective, I can't say this is the best for everyone. However, compared to hemp seed powder I've tried, this is far less grainy and chalky. There is still a slight powdery/chalky texture, but for me it kind of enhances the creaminess of the shake. I bought chocolate fudge, btw. It does taste chocolatey and not too sweet either, especially after being mixed in a glass or two of almond milk. I'm Asian so my taste buds are really sensitive to Americanized sweets and this product isn't close to that level of saccharine. I can't taste the stevia aftertaste that some reviewers mentioned, but if youre sensitive to it, you can always add a different kind of sweetener to the mix. I also enjoy the fact that this powder doesn't have a slimey feel to it unlike egg protein powder. It makes me a little sick thinking about that. Only thing is, the consistency is a little thick. It is like a shake. I'm not a shake kind of person, but I can adapt to it as the taste is acceptable.
Digestibility/Adaptability. One big plus for me was the fact that this is all vegan and dairy-free and egg-free. I'm lactose-intolerant so I can't buy milk protein powder. The ones that don't contain any lactose tend to be really expensive, not to mention the idea of drinking cow milk everyday makes me feel uncomfortable (in the sense that their milk is really not that healthy.) Egg protein powder was great for me at first, but over time the egg powder became slimey when mixed, which you can imagine my distaste as i gulped it down. I also really didnt like the Stevia aftertaste of the product i bought. This product isn't slimey and doesn't have Stevia aftertaste (not from what I could tell anyways). But i was at first anxious after reading reviews about how this powder makes some people go to the bathroom frequently. I've tried glucomannan powder before (practically all fiber) and I was terrified that this powder will have the same effect on me. I just can't take high fiber content foods. I also don't eat enough of it in my diet, so in my head I was scared that drinking something like this would also cause intense BM. Well, let me just say that that hasn't happened yet *cross fingers.* It's been my third day drinking this and no laxative effect at all. It hasn't caused me any biological problems.
Satiety. I honestly have trouble finishing a big blender bottle of this stuff. I'm always somewhat full after drinking half a bottle. It's hard to drink more. The shake with just almond milk & powder can be a little thick so I have trouble chugging the whole thing down. But it does fill me up nicely. I can skip a meal with just one shake with 2 scoops of powder. It helps to restrict my caloric intake.
Price. I got this on sale for like $17? My egg powder protein used to cost $30, now it's like $60 for one big can. I'm not interested in milk-based powders due to digestive issues. So that leaves others like hemp, other vegan powders. This price is very reasonable and great value. I will buy again.

The taste isn't too bad and definitely nice to get some protein in the morning before work.
Delicious!

I wanted a protein that I could mix myself as the pre-mixed ready to drink protein wasn't good. I was tired of the chalky aftertaste and unwanted ingredients. I decided on this protein powder due to the good ingredients, reviews on taste, and low cost. So glad I tried it! Im definitely adding this to my auto-ship. I have only tried this one flavor, but I am hooked. I use an automatic stirrer to mix. I pour a glass of milk, then add the protein last. It incorporated well and was so creamy delicious! No bad aftertaste!
