More like a movie than a game!
Bhatta's Reviews✓ Verified Purchase•January 29, 2017
I have played Metal Gear Solid since the first release of this game series on Playstation 1. This Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for Xbox One does play beautifully on XBOX one S and the graphics is great and the open world experience is nice touch to have around but what frustrates me most is the complex menu structure of iDROID which is very clunky at best. The structure of missions in The Phantom Pain is similar to previous games in the series, specifically Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes.
I know some professional reviewers have stated this is a perfect game in all respects and gave it 10/10 but I honestly think this is not as enjoyable as it should have been. I hate how the credits starts and ends in a mission making it more like a movie than a console game. When you finish a mission in The Phantom Pain, the game gives out a letter grade, based on your performance S, A, B, C, etc; I personally started to enjoy the game when I completely ignored the grade it gives after a mission. Who cares what the game thinks about your abilities? did you have fun? - Yes.. that is all that matters!
Overall this is still enjoyable game if you learn how to carefully select your buddies and learn the quirks of the overly complicated clunky iDROID menu. Pricing is right so I am not complaining - Rating with three stars!

Game is fun, value is great

Game is fun, value is great. Bought this for $12, and I'm sure the price is still around this as I write this review. Solid value and an excellent game at this price point. If you don't like slow, methodical games, then move on to call of duty. But if you have some patience and like strategy, buy this. It does have some points that seem a little unforgiving but this game more than makes up for it. I'm an experience gamer but not a skilled one... and even this gives you lots of wiggle room, from reflex mode (matrix mode) when your spotted, to other ways that help ensure a pleasant experience. Good game, great value!
Hated the ending, but got my money's worth.

It's like watching Lost. It was a fantastic journey, but the last few missions nearly ruined the entire thing..
I wanted to take away a star for the ending, but in the end I spent at least 100 hours on a game that I bought for $15.
Also, I did not touch the online portion. Honestly, even just Chapter 1 of the single-player portion was worth my money.

The thing that made me stop playing was the difficulty, which I looked to turn down but didn't see an option. Otherwise, the graphics are great and the attention to detail with the gameplay is outstanding. It's primarily a stealth game, but a lot of different factors come into play. There's the standard 'the louder you move the easier enemies can hear you' aspect which seems pretty commonplace for stealth games, but aspects of sandstorms and night versus day influencing visibility was a great move. Mother Base was a little confusing, but since this is my first Metal Gear game, it's I my own fault for not buying previous titles. It's a good game, and if I can find a way lower the difficulty I'll play it again, but it made me want to pull my hair out at times.
