Absolutely worth it!

I ordered this because I wanted to hook up a standard Chromecast (NOT Chromecast Audio because even I hate YTMusic and I won't subject anyone else to it) to my mom's stereo system. The receiver had HDMI inputs but that alone didn't suffice. I got this to try to hook up the feed from the Chromecast to the stereo over the RCA channels instead and it worked flawlessly! As far as audio to a stereo goes you can't go wrong with this setup, but it will also work with hooking up an older TV to more current services like Netflix and Hulu. In short, this thing is amazing!

My Dad wanted to connect his large CRT tv to his computer as a second monitor so he can move a browser window over to the tv and watch youtube and netflix from his bed using his wireless keyboard and mouse. I got this and a 30ft hdmi cable and it did the trick. Works great! if you're using an older CRT make sure you set up the display settings on a resolution that is 4:3.

I bought this item for my son to allow him to change from an obsolete video storage technology to present day format. With the old method, he was not able to copy any of the digital video that he downloaded from his video recorder to his computer. All he could do was to view them, and nothing else. The end result was to get his video on to a DVD, and he could have done that if his DVD recorder would accept and HDMI input but, again, no such luck. Enter the Tendak HDMI to Av converter and his problem is solved.

So far this works great! I tried this with the Google Chromecast mirroring my Samsung Glaxy S6 phone as well as directly plugging in my Kindle Fire 7 (with TV adapter). Both worked with this hdmi adapter! This is exactly what I needed for my outdated tv in the bedroom. I imagine I'll be using this on travels as I've noticed not all hotels have televisions with an hdmi port. I'll update if I have any issues but so far this gets a 5 star rating!

Put simply, this product works. The pros: VERY simple interface for connecting an HDMI-only output device to an older TV. Now the ONLY con: this device was designed w/o a power source. For this price I would hace expected a 120VAC to (some) DCV converter. Instead, you need to purchase a 120VAC to USB power converter AND a cable. I has BOTH as spares, so no big deal for me, but it is clearly something that should have been part of the purchase FOR THE PRICE.
Really, w/o the power input converter and cable, this should EASILY be $10 less.
