Best Nut Milk Bag on the Market!
Amazon Customer✓ Verified Purchase•August 8, 2017
The best nut milk bag on the market!!
I've been making homemade almond milk for awhile. It's been aggravating as I've just been using cheesecloth and it's a huge mess every time. This bag saves me time, effort and is so easy to use. I make 1-2 quarts of milk at a time and this bag easily handles it. I used to have to pour the milk in sections, but this bag is big enough that it's a one-and-done kind of thing!
Pros:
1. Size of the bag. It's huge enough to collect an entire batch of milk even if you're making it in bulk!
2. Quality of the fabric. It is a really fine mesh fabric, but is very sturdy and easy to handle. It catches absolutely everything! Every grain of almond (or juice or whatever you're trying to make/strain). It holds strong no matter the amount you're squeezing out.
3. Fast shipping. The product arrived within a couple of days and was in perfect condition, exactly as described.
4. Ease of cleaning. Because of the tight weave of the fabric, the pulp also doesn't get stuck in the fabric. Just turn it inside out, rinse the bag to remove all the pulp. If you do this immediately, it rinses right off. Then put a little dish soap on the bag, hand scrub it just long enough to get it all sudsy rinse and air dry. It will look brand new and the fabric will last longer if you air dry!
**Note: Use whatever soap you use to wash your DISHES. That soap will be food-grade and safe for products coming in contact with food. If you stick it in the washing machine, the next time you use it, you'll most likely be filtering the soap into your nut milk/juice/whatever as they're designed to stick to clothes (if you use a natural detergent, this may be fine, just do your research and make sure it's safe for food). Alternatively, if you don't want to hand wash, you can rinse as described above and put the bag on the top rack of your dishwasher.
Cons:
Haven't found any yet, but if I do, I'll definitely update this post!

Great for cold brew coffee
Ben M.✓ Verified Purchase•May 9, 2017
I have been using the bag to strain cold brew coffee every day for a few weeks now. So far, it seems like a really strong and well-made bag. It doesn't seem to strain the material when I squeeze the last bit of good drops out. It is definitely a lot better than waiting for the coffee to strain through a standard coffee filter, and it only lets the really fine grounds get through which are not enough to affect the taste/texture. Overall, very satisfied with the bag for cold brew coffee!
so this bag is great at getting an extra 4-8oz of juice out of ...

I bought this bag to help get the last of the juice from the pulp left over from my juicer. I cannot justify spending $500 on a new juicer, so this bag is great at getting an extra 4-8oz of juice out of the left over pulp. When I finish juicing, the pulp is slightly damp, but after ringing it out in this bag it is as dry as can be! It does take a couple of minutes to really clean the pulp out after using it, but I the whole juicing process is time consuming for me. I definitely think this is worth the $9 and will be buying again.
A Great Reusable Alternative
Kristin Young✓ Verified Purchase•July 15, 2016
I was so excited to find this product when I was looking for a reusable alternative to cheesecloth (it is to cheesecloth what a Silpat is to parchment paper); it's also more effective than cheesecloth because the weave it tighter. The major use I've had for this bag so far is actually straining citrus juice, mostly for making sour mix, but I look forward to using it for nut milk, yogurt, or cheese in the future.
My one major complaint with cleaning is that small particles (like citrus pulp) can work through the inner stitching on the bag and get stuck in the seems between the two lines of stitches; I haven't figured out how to work this out yet, but a littlest bit of dried lemon pulp isn't really getting in my way, so it's not a huge deal. I will also say that, should I need more of these on the future, I will probably try an organic version now that I'm sure it's something I will actually use.
UPDATE: I've now used this bag for straining homemade ricotta, thawed frozen berries, and infused oils. It does such a good job letting so much liquid out without any solid material. I'm not sure I use this enough to buy more than one, but it's definitely something I'll always want to have in my kitchen and that I recommend to everyone.

Call it the cold brew bag!

Cold brew coffee is perfect with this nut milk bag. The bag is large enough to fit in the entire picture (I bought the Bormioli Rocco Set Of 2 Frigoverre Glass Jug Pitcher With Hermetic Frosted Lid - 67.75 oz). Now I have cold brew to serve and cold brew being made all the time. The one word of advice I have is don't use the bag inside out. I thought it might be easier to clean if I used it with the seam on the outside. When I rinsed the bag, the coffee grounds made their way into the region around the drawstring. I was a pain to flush them out. Now I use the bag with the correct side out and clean up is a breeze.
