I purchased the Midland 75-822 Portable Radio as the first CB radio I have owned in over 20 years. I was pleased with the transmit and receive capibility of the Midland 75-822 portable unit as compared to previous CB transceivers that I have owned. The variable battery configurations are are definite plus.
The plactic storage case offered in association with the radio was a must for my application.
I found this to be a good value for a versatile and quality product.

ok for close range. I use it to direct trucks where to back up to. maybe a mile range when hooked to my external antenna. not a suitable replacement for my tuned galaxy. much more convenient for its compact size

The Midland 75-822 is a test of my learning ability as it has features more advanced than I am use to finding in a small portable radio. I would like to bring back the good old days when thing were made of more durable material as plastic heavy or not make it feel more like a toy than product made for adults but plastic is now what makes the world go around. It remains to be seen if this radio will stand the test of time. It does if fact offer the choice of a permanent installation or a temporary set up.

Great little radio that appears to put out the legal limit in power. Great battery holders for both rechargeable and standard alkaline cells.
I wish it had control memory - it gets old having to turn on channel scan every time I use it. Another thing is it should provide a microphone holder to use in the car since it has a non-standard bracket on the back.

I have to say I was excited to get a portable cb. Looked around a bit and chose this one. What a mistake. Even with a magnetic mountable antenna I could bairly pick up chatter and even went down next to my local (big) commercial truck stop and could not get anyone to even acknowledge a mic check from me. It is clearly not a quality product. I commute into New Orleans everyday and thought it would be fantastic to have to find out where wrecks are or communicate with the rigs on which lanes are best and this CB was a huge let down. If you don't want a mounted cb and are looking at this one, please.... just keep looking.
