Great solution for road trips

We took a long, road-trip vacation that involved around 40 hours of driving, including coming back through the leading edge of Hurricane Harvey, and this bag kept everything dry and safe. We used it in combination with a Rhino Rack Roof Mount Cargo Basket, Large and a Rhino Rack Luggage Net and it all worked perfectly. The bag fits nicely in the rack, and the net held everything in place without any issues. Note that we did *not* use the straps that are included with the RoofBag, but they appeared adequate.
We had virtually no road/wind noise nor any perceptible drag or sway, and traveled at 75-85mph for the majority of the trip. The bag is cavernous and holds quite a bit of stuff. The zippers appear to be rugged, and the material is thick. Highly recommended, particularly in combination with the roof rack and luggage net.

Had the roofbag on the roof of our GMC Acadia for over 1000 miles total, to the beach and back. Had zero problems. Light rain for a few hrs, zero leaks. I was a little skeptical due to some of the negative reviews however if you read the INSTRUCTIONS that are included, you won't have any problems. Every single complaint in the poor reviews was addressed if they would have read the dummy-proof instructions. Buy the pad too it's well worth it. Roofbag didn't require any extra straps. Very thick "rubberized" material. Small noticeable noise from bag above 70mph but come on people......it's a bag, strapped to your roof, what did you expect? Noise was barely noticeable. So glad I didn't spend $400+ on a hard roof carrier. This bag held a full size suitcase, 4 medium size duffel bags, a pack-n-play and a large vacuum sealed bag of beach towels and sheets. Zero complaints, when/if this one wears out, will definitely buy another one!

We purchased this bag as our family is growing and as the kids grow, the amount of thins they feel they need to bring on road trips is growing exponentially. For our most recent trip we came to the realization that we may not actually have enough space for all the Stuff so we caved and bought this. We were able to fit all of our clothes, linens, and pillows in it (family of 5) with room to spare. The instructions tell you to fill it as much as possible, so we kept going! It was to the point where we had ample space inside our van during the ride which was a great bonus.
We did buy the mat to protect our car and it doubled in ensuring there was no slippage during our drive. Our vacation was a three hour drive and the bag did not slip and didn't cause any noticeable drag when travelling at or below 75mph. We didn't risk going faster than that given speed limits and strain on the car with the extra drag. We even had a bit of rain on the way home and the bag didn't leak at all. Overall we're very happy with the purchase. It delivered dry clothes and extra space in the van, what else can you ask for!

We fit A LOT of stuff in this carrier. A large suitcase, medium suitcase, 3 large duffel bags and a load of towels and pillows for 4 people. We drove from CA to NC in constant rain and everything stayed nice and dry while we were moving. We left the bag on the car when we stopped overnight with a few things in it. In the morning everything inside was soaked. We were really happy with the bag as a whole, it is really well made, the straps it came with worked perfectly with no annoying sounds. The roof mat was perfect, kept the bag from sliding and the car had 0 marks on the roof at the end of the trip. It kept everything dry while we were driving (it rained hard for 3 days), it just doesn't work well when it is stationary for several hours in pouring rain. Really great alternative to breaking the bank with a hard top. Just take your stuff inside if you are stopping overnight in the rain.
Excellent for our needs, carrying mostly clothes in the three inner bags.

We bought this last minute for our trip from WA to NY via the south to avoid the winter roads.
Fulfilled our purpose, that was to carry ~10 cubic feet of clothes. We went through Washington, Oregon, California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Arkansas, Kentucky, Virginia, New Jersey and others in between for 7 days, stopping to sleep and eat. We went through wintry weather up to 79F and speeds averaging 64Miles with some trenches at 80 when allowed.
We only have to adjust the straps once during our trip, due to the deformation of the front of the bag, carrying mostly clothes. We also got the recommended extra straps that we used on top of the standard ones. We got the pad that protected the roof but didn't prevented the bag to slide few inches of the initial position. We didn't bother to move back and carried on that way like 15 to 20" away from the windshield and the front straps close to the car door beams.
The container bags, I would say are a must, at least you are planning to carry a bulky item, but regardless try to have the content secure or padded within the big bag, since it may shift inside, it is a big bag :)
