Not bad. Workable.

Fits if I turn the wheel upside down on my 2017 Toyota 4Runner. Smaller than I expected, wouldn't likely hold my 13" MacBook Pro very securely, but haven't tested yet. I use it for a very small and light Bluetooth keyboard and stationary trackball mouse.
Probably would be nice in a pinch for eating in your car. I won't be using it for that. I wish it was a little more secure, but I guess every steering wheel is different. Not a bad value though.

Buy it!

This tray is very useful, and I'm glad I bought it!
My new summer hobby is car-camping in a Toyota Prius while hiking through the beautiful forests of New York and Pennsylvania. When storms kept us cooped up in the car, I used this tray to turn the front seat into a dining area/office. It is perfectly sized to fit in the small space between the steering wheel and my body...no need to move the seat back. (Which would have been impossible due to the mattress in the back anyway.) The tray pops on and off easily regardless of steering wheel position (No need to turn the wheel upside down as mentioned with other kinds of cars.) It holds a meal or my cellphone/tablet/book securely without shifting or wiggling. When not in use, it tucks neatly between the seat and the center console. The tray is sturdy and seems like it will serve me well for many years.
This is a simple thing, but it will really come in handy for anyone who spends a lot of time in their car!

Wish I had thought of this first!

I usually read or watch something while I am eating lunch at the office, and the kitchen is not a quiet place to do this; therefore, I started eating in my car. If you have ever done this, you know that it is tricky to balance a book/Kindle/tablet and your lunch. Inevitably, I would spill something on my person or in my car. It got so bad I was eating before or after lunch so that I would have a stable surface on which to do so. Not anymore! This desk is and large enough to support a tablet/book, a small lunch, and a notepad at the same time (I've been doing my homework in the car the past few days). It easily hooks onto the bottom of my steering wheel (I have a 2012 Honda Civic) and is sturdy enough to hold the slight pressure of my arm as I lean to write. When it's time to go back inside, it easily pulls off the wheel and stows in the pocket of my passenger seat. It wipes clean easily, as well.
not for padded steering wheels.

Positive:
sturdy. decent size, especially for note taking on notepad, (not regular size paper), good coverage for sloppy eaters (ha, like me), easily cleaned, easy to store in locker. Price ok (for a failed experiment)
Negatives:
If your steering wheel is padded at all, good chance it won't fit, making any positives moot (unless you just use it for a lap tray.) Cup indent is a bit small, so choose drinks wisely. diameter of steering wheel not an issue, just the thickness.
I drive multiple vehicles with different size/shapes padded/not padded steering wheels, and it just barely fits on 1 of them, the small, unpadded one.
I would love to reccomend the item, but make sure your steering wheel is on the thin side, preferably with little to no padding.

Inexpensive, simple and sturdy. Too big for my usage.

Something like this is a must for anyone who works out a of a vehicle. This hung on the steering wheel well but the spacing between my stomach and the wheel of my van was too small for this tray. The price was so low that I passed it on to a slimmer coworker rather than return. He says he likes it.
