Home Connect Module Compatible

Great lock! This is unit is Home Connect compatible and I used the z-wave module purchased separately here: Home Connect Lock Module, Rf Z-wave Chip REV 3.8 for Kwikset Models 909, 910, 911, 912, 913, 914
If you don't already have the module (or can't find a good deal on one) and you want Home Connect compatibility then purchasing a different unit might be your best bet. However, this unit does have physical buttons which are an absolute must have if your entry has partial or direct sunlight where a touch panel won't be bright enough.
If your door-side bolt does not line up well enough with the strike then you are going to have problems. Some adjustment may be necessary for your specific door.
The smart key feature worked like a charm and I was up and running in minutes.

The installation wasn't bad, but not super simple. The configuration was a little more complicated. Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone looking to get a keypad deadbolt. It's made our life much simpler, especially when I go on a bike ride without a house key and my wife leaves the house while I'm gone. My wife likes the auto-relock feature, though I wish it were something like 2-5 minutes instead of 30 seconds.
We have a few codes programmed, so we can give out one of them to others knowing we can change it when we want if we decide we don't want someone coming back. However, changing a code isn't the easiest, so if you want to change codes very often, maybe look for different locks.

Keep in mind this electronic deadbolt is only one month old. The installation was pretty easy with the inside outer case being a little tough to align, but once aligned it looks pretty good. Programming is easy and the bolt moves in-out smoothly. I do not know how long the four AA batteries will last but hopefully at least a year. What I really liked was the ability to rekeying the lock to my existing house key -no locksmith needed!

It looks like this product is being continued, which is a shame. The first one I got had a defective clutch, but Amazon replaced it quickly. It took about 10 minutes to install, including programming and rekeying it. Very easy to use.

The install was easy. I replaced an existing deadbolt. Everything just worked. It would be nice if the keypad would light up when a button was pressed. I sometimes open my shop at night and I have to push the buttons by memory. Yeah, I could use a flashlight but I don't need it to get to my shop.
