This is a good solid walking stick! Just as I was looking for! It is about 1 1/4 inch diameter at the top and a solid 1 inch at the bottom. It was easy to cut the height that was right for me off the bottom and reinstall the rubber foot. I am 5'6" and needed to cut about 3 inches to make it fit me. The stick is one piece, solid and not heavy. The knots were sanded down to smooth which gives it lots of character. I get so many compliments on it they come in every time I'm in public so if you don't like strangers saying nice things about your stick then this is not the one for you.

looks nice in photo, and when arrived the unit is very solid and sturdy. Problem thought it would have been larger in diameter. I am a nature photographer and needed to have more stability. For an every day hiker on smooth terrain the walking stick is ideal. In my case I go climbing over rocks, trees, etc., to get the photographs I want. Also, it is highly polished which makes it hard to handle. Purchased the Tandy leather walking grip because of the smooth polished finish. Review on that later. Would recommend this for anyone looking for a nice walking stick for every day walking and hikes.

These are great walking sticks. I have purchased 3 of these and they're carefully made and don't have flaws in them that make them less dependable, but they still have plenty of character. I've seen some sticks that are cheaper, but reading the reviews it seems many buyers were disappointed in them and a number had to be sent back due to serious flaws.
You can also buy add-on parts for these sticks if you want (such as spikes). I also like that they are made in the U.S.

I suffered a lateral tear in my left hamstring six years ago. Because of the type of tear, it is doubtful that it will ever heal properly. When I am walking for a length of time or over rough terrain, my knee gets tired and aching. I have been using a cane but, especially when hiking, I would prefer something that gives me a little support but doesn't look like I need a cane. This walking stick provides exactly the bit of support I need while looking quite fun and cool.
It may not be what I can use on a full day shopping expedition when a cane is more useful to me but for the days when I'm out in nature walks with my husband and grandchildren it suits my needs perfectly.
