MAKING VANILLA EXTRACT- READ THIS FIRST

The beans themselves are fragrant and very good quality. I ordered these wanting to make "Pure" vanilla extract. You need 1oz of beans for 8oz of vodka. For these I found out is about #14 beans for 1 oz. The cost of the bottles, vodka, and beans to make an 8 oz bottle (7 oz vodka, 1 oz beans) is more expensive than a 16oz Bottle of Pure Vanilla Extract McCormick brand on amazon, and even more expensive if you buy generic. If you are making as gifts, anything homemade costs more. But if you are doing it to try to save costs, you wont. Just a heads up.
Plump and fragrant

I was worried by some of the low star review but took a chance and happy I did.
The 10 beans' weight was about .9 of an oz. I ordered 12 Tinitian from another seller and they were also .9 oz.
These were thicker/plumper than the others. They were very fragrant and I could smell them through the Prime packaging. Can't imagine what the driver's truck smelled like. 😉

My photo does not do the beans justice but I am making my first batch ever of homemade vanilla extract woot! These beans are gorgeous and after a few days they have already saturated into the extract. Will purchase more soon for a new batch :)
Making Vanilla Extract

Making Vanilla Extract takes 6 months for aging. So I started early in July as Christmas presents. Will not know the final result until the end of December. I was very happy with the quality and freshness of the vanilla beans. I also use fresh beans with making panna cotta and yogurt.
Fresh and Plump!

These were supper fresh, plump and full of seeds. Added some pods to a jar of bourbon for bourbon vanilla and filled two glass pod holders with the remaining pods. Very happy with my purchase!! Don't be fooled by the size of the vacuum packed bag they come in. Once you open it, you will be pleased with the plentiful contents.
