I just recently acquired a 'scoby' (Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast ~ aka good bacteria), in order to brew my very own Kombucha (a sweet, fizzy tea that is very good for you ~ chock full of probiotics). In order for me not to have to have a bunch of small sized glass jars around (not to mention lots of scoby's), I decided to use a glass gallon jug for my mixture. The recipe calls for a gallon of distilled water, so in order to stick with the original recipe I received I knew I would need a big container. The price was right and I am happy with the quality of this glass jar and the fact they come with plastic lids, not metal.

These jars are FAB! All the foods I kept in my basement pantry were getting to smell like musty basement (a whole nuther problem ) , so instead of saving money, and shopping at home, I was throwing stuff AWAY.. I have 8 of these huge jars. One for flour, sugar, brown sugar,crackers, etc. One of these gallon jars is filled to the brim with CHOCOLATE CHIPS !!! just for baking. And COMPANY. You know. . We've made it through the rainy season of flooded basement and so far into the hot season of dank and smelly with NO PROBLEMS. YAY! I plan on getting 8 more for tea, coffee, spaghetti, etc. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THESE JARS. Also, they came well packed in a sturdy box and seem to be pretty tough as in not easy to break if you trip over them, or clonk one with a cupboard door. One thing I will say, if you have small hands or arthritis, you might not want these big jars. When my hands are having a bad day it can be a wee bit difficult to grip the span of the lids. But for me it's so worth it.

Received my product on time and it was packaged very secure. I really love this jar and plan to get another. My only concern is the lid seems a bit cheap and if I'm not careful I think I could break it. Hoping that it would be easy to replace the lid if this happens. Has anyone broke the lid and if so, were you able to replace it with this company? Otherwise the jar is very well made, the glass is thicker so the jar is not super fragile. I actually am using it to store flour, but want another jar because I'm thinking I will make an attempt at making Kombucha.

Packed very well. Box was delivered smashed on one side (see photo) but the actual jars were protectively packed in a box, inside the smashed box. Delivered on time even through a winter weather advisory. Jars are thick and even throughout. Didnt think the plastic lids would be water tight but they worked beyond expectations. Very happy with our jars.

I am using these to organize my pantry. I love the size for helping store my oats (steel-cut, old-fashioned). I haven't filled them all yet, but I have fit 2-2lb bags of brown rice in one. The mouth is wide enough to get my 1 cup measure in and scoop out what I need. And they aren't too bulky so if I need to pour stuff out, it isn't a big deal.
