Good watch but the band is the weak link
Abby✓ Verified Purchase•August 17, 2023
Watch still works after years but the band ripped so I would need to get crafty to keep using it.
A handy and useful gift.

I bought this for a friend's daughter when we were visiting them. Timex watches are always good to use.
What I like about this watch:
1. The watch is sturdy, accurate and not very expensive.
2. I guess the battery runs a long time on this watch
3. Indiglo is one of my favorite feature on Ironman watches.
4. It is water resistant and you can dip it in a glass of water or wash hands or swim wearing it.
5. It seems very complex when you start using it but once you get hang of it, its breeze to set alarms, timers and stopwatch.
6. This one is very lightweight as well.
7. INSTRUCTIUONS INCLUDED: A few people mentioned that this came without instructions. Mine did come with detailed instructions (see picture). Sometimes its tucked under the "stand" on which the watch is mounted.
What I dislike about this watch:
1. The volume of chime and the alarm is too low. A little louder would have been helpful.
2. The strap is too long for mid-size watch.
3. The biggest problem with this and other Timex watches is that the strap is very weak and breaks in a few months. Availability of replacement straps is highly desirable.

Works Well, Difficult Set Up

Negatives:
1. Absolutely no instructions for setup in included. Must use online manual.
2. Absolutely no instructions in online manual for setting alpha day of the week. I finally figured it out by pure accident. Displaying the alpha day of the week (Sunday through Saturday) is not done directly. It is set automatically based on your choosing the correct month, date, and year. Here are the instructions for setting up entire correct time / date:
A. On default date/time screen, press and hold top left button to make date disappear and begin setting hour, minutes, year, month, date, and seconds in that order. You may have to press and release this button before holding it down allows you to begin setting the watch.
B. Press bottom left button once to select hour, minutes, current year, month, date and seconds in that order. Each choice will blink to allow you to scroll to make a selection. For year, your choices are 2020-2099.
C. Press top right button to scroll through choices for each option. Choosing the correct current month, day, and YEAR is what automatically sets the DAY of the week (Sunday-Saturday).
D. Press bottom left button to set each choice and cause the next choice to automatically blink.
E. Use top left button to set all choices once you are finished.
3. Timer works well but after a few minutes, it reverts back to default date / time screen during a run, making it very inconvenient to check my running time. The timer continues tracking my time accurately, but I can't see it or pause it without pressing the bottom left button multiple times to bring the timer back into view. Very annoying flaw.

Decent watch for the price, some weird features

I buy this watch (or a very similar model, sometimes the marathon is not available in which case I'll buy the 1440 or whatever I can find at a similar price and which functions similarly) approximately every 3 years because that's about how long it lasts. Usually the battery dies (and it's so inexpensive, it's easier to just get a new one than to get the battery changed, plus changing the battery can affect the waterproofness I've heard), but one time the strap pretty much disintegrated, breaking into 3 pieces as I put it on one morning. I would rather pay $15-$20 for a watch every 2 years and not have to worry about scratching it up, as I would if I had a more expensive watch.
I like this watch because it matches all the features that are important to me: it's digital (not analog), it has a small profile, it gets small enough to fit on my very small wrist, and it is water resistant. I also like the purple color, and the date, stopwatch, hourly chime, alarm and Indiglo light features. I don't wear it in the shower but I have gone swimming while wearing it (not lap swimming but just splashing around in a pool) and it's been fine, and I get it wet while washing dishes all the time.
This watch loses half a star because it consistently only lasts 3 years (I've had maybe 4 watches at this point and it's consistent) whereas the limited warranty is only for one year so I always just have to buy a new one. This watch loses another half star because it has this weird world clock feature- it's a T2 setting where you can choose a different time to set your watch (I think you only choose the hour, not the minutes, so it's for a different time zone or something). However, I find this pretty useless, and yet when I want to use other settings, I have to pass it, and it's kind of just in the way. Another weird thing, which is not necessarily good or bad, is that if you go to a setting other than the main time, after awhile (maybe 30 seconds) it will go back to the main time setting, unless you're on stopwatch and the stopwatch is running. This is not bad, but I was confused for awhile because I would know I left it on a certain setting but I'd look at the watch and it was back on the main screen. Also, I really wish this watch had a timer.

I have used this watch for years, my last one was slowly losing functions. I had ordered one to replace it 4ys ago and the original was still going. If I could have found the last one I ordered I wouldn't have ordered this one. For me this style and brand work great.
