I give this laminator 3 stars because it does not get hot enough to seal 3mil paper using the 5mil option. I have to put my projects through twice to have it seal completed. I brought this laminator to laminate file folders for my classroom and again, it doesn't seal completed, sometimes it doesn't even seal all the way running it through twice. I have to use clear tape to make sure it stays sealed... it drives me crazy.
Otherwise, it is a great size, light weight and easy to move around.

We've only laminated about thirty sheets of paper in the 15 months we've had it. The most recent laminations had wide stripes running across them. When we turned it on the other day, it began smoking. We searched online for how to clean the rollers, assuming that sheet residue had caused the burning, but couldn't find any help. Took the top off and there is NO easy way to clean the rollers or even see what could be causing the problem. Plugged unit in with cover off and smoke was coming from all over the machine and not just on the area of the rollers where the lamination sheets were fed through. Going to need to buy a replacement and not comfortable with buying the Scotch brand. :\

12/11/2017.... UPDATE: I was sent a replacement because the release button broke. And guess what happened to the replacement? The release button broke. Its plastic and I guess not very durable. Both of these are going back.. I purchased because the price was good, but I guess you get what you pay for. I'll save up a little bit and buy a better brand!

I have had this laminator for about a year. From the beginning I noticed that it was not a clear surface. It put lines on the piece being laminating on the front side. Not a big problem. I started running it through upside down because the backside was clearer. Then about a week ago it started not sealing the pouches completely. The edges were ok but the middle bottom did not seal. I also noticed that the pieces coming out did not seem as hot anymore. So I am forced to buy a new laminator when I thought this one would last much longer.

I am a Special Education Teacher, so I laminate a lot. I needed this extra long one in order laminate file folders. However, this is the second one I've purchased, and I refuse to purchase it again. When I turn it on, the laminator smells like smoke. After about a couple of uses (on both) the 5 mil lamination sheets started bunching up and getting stuck. It took two people to pull the sheet out of the machine even when using the release lever. For the first one, the sheet went in, got stuck, and I had to open up the machine to try to get it out. That's when I found out the sheet was burned onto the rollers. This lamination machine was a waste of money and my time as I have had to re-prep the items the machine ate.
