This is a serious survival knife. It has a drastic recurve blade wit a drop point. There is video of it chopping a 4-6 inch tree. I thought it to be a bit unlikely. Wow! Was I mistaken. It most sertainly do that. This knife will make Crocodile Dundee run from you. I cleanly and effortlessly severed 347 pound bar's leg (I shot it first) between its shoulder and elbow with a moderate thrust. Forget the talk about Schrade being junk. Nothing could be further from the truth with this aknife. This is a must have survival knife. I strap others to my leg and take a skinner on any shoot.
magnificently designed blade and construction- with sturdy sheath- what's not to love

As "TheGutsch" wrote, it does, indeed, remind me of my prized ZT301 and ZT303 folders. To me, the blade design, and the very quality of the knife, exude quality, reliability, strength, and utility. I've owned many knives in my sixty-eight years, but this definitely ranks in the Top 10 for me. As a fixed blade knife that could be an EDC, should easier/better methods of carriage present themselves, it would be absolutely lethal. Likewise, as a survival "tool," the SCHF28, Little Ricky, is a tasking viability. Whether chopping wood for shelter or fire, food for dinner, or defense, this knife is more utilitarian than a Bowie or Khukuri. Grip, full tang, choil, jimping, lanyard hole, magnificently designed blade and construction- with sturdy sheath- what's not to love? It's balance belies it's weight, and it puts the lie, to those that think a truly great knife, has to be expensive... Schrade once again, proves that the average Joe, or Jane, doesn't have to hock the house, to get quality gear...

Multitasking blade of masterful design and execution. Proof positive that high quality is affordable. Too bad Amazon only allows Five Stars for excellance...

Five out of Five Stars, and yes, I do heartily recommend this blade to all and sundry...
Ughhhhh

The knife itself is ok. But i got something different than the picture showed. Is there 2 versions? I dont have a lanyard hole in the index finger placement.(pictured below). Knife seems way heavier than a pound amd some ounces . A great knife yes, but also it seems i got a used one from Amazon or whomever sent it. It seemed like it was used, then sent back. Coating is all scratched up like someone tried to sharpen after use...and dirty. A good knife yes but confused on why i got something different-ish than pictured and what appears to be a used knife.
Works great. Has a good weight and comfortable handle

Took this out hunting and used it as a machete/hatchet combo. Works great. Has a good weight and comfortable handle. Came with a nice edge to it out of the box.
Small nicks in blade

I like the size of the knife and the grip is very comfortable for someone with big hands. I used it twice on camping trips in the past month and I have three nicks on the cutting edge from making kindling for my fire. Schrade has a good name and I have owned other knives that they made this is my first let down from them.
