A solid diaper pail from a great company
A. Goldberg✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 28, 2023
An update/replacement of my previous review. (tl;dr: it's great so far).

I received a broken unit as an open box model from Warehouse Deals. I would normally just blame any damage on shipping or the "open box" nature of the order, but I was concerned because other reviewers had mentioned the exact same point of failure: the latch that closes the primary cover, where dirty diapers are placed.

So I chalked it up to an actual product defect and prepared to return the item to Amazon. However, before I did that, Bubula contacted me and promised to make it right. They claimed that some of the units did indeed leave the factory with an overlooked defect, and they offered to send me a replacement part to get my Bubula working. I think that's just solid customer service, and not every company would do that, especially for someone who bought a used item.

The new lid was shipped quickly (arriving incidentally while I was at the hospital with my wife, who was delivering our daughter), and it was easy to swap out the part with a screwdriver. The piece that broke in the first model has indeed been completely redesigned, and it looks much more robust and durable.

Through a little more than a week of hard use (with a newborn going through 10-12 diapers a day), the Bubula has performed very well. Newborn, breastfed babies don't really make stinky diapers, so I can't speak to its ultimate odor reduction capabilities, but the room is indeed stink-free so far. Ask me again when she starts solid foods next year.

I like the look of the thing, the fact that the can is stainless steel, the fact that it comes in many colors, and that it requires only regular kitchen trash bags. I believe the defect that affected a small number of products has been fixed, and I respect the company for acknowledging the problem and offering to help me out. They've really been great about the whole thing.

While I only have a short time with the Bubula so far, I expect that it will perform well as one of the best diaper pails available today.

Update: Four months in, and I think the Bubula really is the best option out there for diaper disposal. Friends and family are frequently lamenting their more popular diaper pail's reliance on proprietary bag refills and such, as well as things like broken plastic gears that render a cheaper unit useless. I've used the Bubula every day for four months, and it's as good as the day the first soggy diaper crossed its stainless threshold. No messes, no stains, no odors (other than the scented/neutralizing kitchen bags we use). I'm a fan, but I still have yet to test it with truly stinky solid food diapers. The thing seals well, so I believe it will be as good or better than any other available solution out there.
Keeps the stink in most days!

Overall we are really pleased with this diaper pail! We love that it uses regular trash bags so we don't have to buy special ones. It keeps the stink in, except on very hot, humid days. Only real complaint is pictured here. The piece that pinches the trash bag in place sticks out, so when we empty the can this piece rips a hole in the trash bag. A simple slope over this section would help prevent this from happening.
Poor Durability for Expensive Product *UPDATED*
Amazon Customer✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 18, 2023
I have waited a while after purchase to write this review, but I am glad I did. After just 6 months of using this (rather expensive) diaper pail (it is heavily used, for all diapers for 2 kids), we will be lucky if it continues to function much longer. Within a month of receiving and using, our not quite 2 year old had already managed to break the spring for the outer cover that gives access to the chute, which effectively makes the smell escape more than it would with this piece. The inner door doesn't work as well as I would have hoped either, since we have to jiggle it (while holding a baby in one hand) to get the diaper through the opening if not placed just right. Inside, one the clips holding the metal bracket for placing the trash bag recently broke as well. I was willing to pay more for a diaper pail that controlled the inevitable 'stink' (especially since we had a extra stinky Diaper Dekor before) and that also held more volume than most on the market (and also used standard trash bags), since we would be using it for 2 kiddos; however, overall I am disappointed in how poorly this product has held up.
UPDATE:
After submitting my original review, I was contacted by Bubula customer service and they offered to replace the entire lid! Although this didn't fix the issues entirely, (plastic clip that holds metal garbage bag frame is still broken), it does help to have the external chute cover and new sliding door, both of which are vital to 'stink control'. I was VERY impressed with the company's customer service and diligent follow up to make sure my replacement was promptly received, therefore have updated this product to a 4 star. Good product, hopefully the durability is better with replacement parts!
We love it!

Our diaper genie just broke after a little over a year and had allot of things we didn't like about it (it was a gift) so we were looking for something to fix those issues and the Bubula did just that! I hated sticking my hand down in there to shove the diaper in on the diaper genie and that got harder to do as it filled up more. Every time you would open it the odor filled the room and the lid was very easy to flip open which my 15 mos old son would constantly do. With the bubula there is no shoving your hand in, you just pop open the diaper compartment, put the diaper in and close it and press down the large button. While my son can open the diaper compartment (it pops open with a soft push) it's sealed off from the rest of the diapers so there is no smell that escapes and he can't get to any dirty diapers in there. The button makes a large trap door slide back and forth and it takes a good hard push, too hard for my son to be able to open it. I like that it uses regular kitchen trash bags so there is no cutting and tying off involved. There are no filters to buy either since the smell is always contained and that was something I hated about the diaper genie was the adhesive on the filter holder would constantly come off and drop the filter into the trash so we had to tape it on which didn't make it very effective. It is about the same height as the diaper genie and I thought it would be taller but it is much wider and will hold allot more diapers so you don't have to change out the bag often.

Update: My son was able to pop off the black plastic piece that holds down the lid on the trap door and now it won't close. Not sure if Bubula has replacement parts or not.
Just What We Were Looking For - Great Pail, No Smells, Easy to Use

Update after 7 months:
Still love it! Once the spring in the push button got stuck and the pail stopped working. Since this was from our Amazon registry I tried to contact Amazon and they were super unhelpful. So I reached out to the company and they were prompt in responding. I sent them a video of the issue and they sent me on back with the simple thirty second fix. Has worked great for months since then.
- I saw someone returning this to buy buy baby for the same issue. It seems common but easy to fix and many just don't try
- I probably will not do another Amazon registry. Easy to use but when something needs returned/replaced they are super unhelpful unlike the nearby store where I had my other registry.

Original Review: Our baby is only 1 month old but so far I love this. It is easy to change the bags and wonderful we can use regular tall kitchen bags - which was one of my criteria since I did not want that added expense. We haven't had any issues with smells in the nursery and probably only change the bag once a week. Another reason I loved this is because it is taller then the other leading steel diaper pail and when holding a squirming baby it is easy to reach the top to put the diaper in. I am hopeful this will last us for a while and when/if it bites the dust I will plan on buying a new one. We searched for a LONG time for a diaper pail and I am so happy we found this, love it!
