Do not buy for lollipops!
RedPandaDuck✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 26, 2017
So ya not gonna lie I bought this for lollipop making. Since no one has reviewed it for that purpose I thought I would. Well it can with stand the heat, but you can't get the liquid into the tiny tiny tiny holds for the cake pop stick. So look at a different product for lollipops.
Not good for baking... great for shaping!

Okay, This is a tricky one. I tried two options: First, baking the cake mix straight in the mold, and Second, baking and mixing the cake balls as usual and then shaping the balls in the mold.

I don't see how anyone could be successful with option 1. Option 2, however.... I don't see how anyone could get as perfect or uniform shape on their cake balls without a mold like this.

I didn't hand out any of the ones I baked in the mold, they came out terrible. But the ones that i shaped using the mold were wonderful and delicious. I gave to my mom for Mother's Day (photo attached). I would recommend this mold if you only wish to shape your cake/cookie balls.
Pan is too flexible.

The pan is easy to clean and durable. However, the inside molds spread as they bake rather than rising out of the top as they are supposed to do. I baked ten batches and experimented with fill and trying to seal them. Every time, I got cake balls but they were baked into a mass of flat cake that had leaked out so I had to separate them out. It was a lot more work than it needed to be. I even tried to weight the empty spaces down but nothing worked. Next time, I will go for a metal pan instead.
Terrific molds, with a few sets you'll have the ability to make virtually unlimited cake pops

90% of the cake balls come out usable which is plenty! Only a few turn out with flatter tops or broke in half. I bought a couple silicon baking molds and am very happy with them.

Some tips:
Use extra oil in the "regular cake" batter to make them feel a bit more like traditional crumbled cake pops.
Use a spray oil or brush to coat the silicon (top and bottom) with a bit of oil to help the cake balls come off more easily.
Trim the cake balls with a knife before dipping in candy melts, candy melt is pretty forgiving and makes even somewhat deformed balls look great.
Put the cake pop stick in the flat spot if the cake ball has one (hides it well) otherwise I aim for the biggest void I can find on the ball.
Dip the end of the cake pop stick in candy melt, let it sit for ~30s and then insert into the cake ball.
Okay Product through Trial and Error

It comes with no instructions so figuring out cooking time and exactly how full to fill it is a bit of trial and error. Despite closing the two pieces together tightly and adjusting the amount poured into each half, the batter did leak in between the round molds and I had to do A LOT of trimming and a few from each batch (the center balls) didn't survive. Overall, I like the product and will use it again in the future but the process probably would have been a lot easier with another product.
