With this size, most people can reach their back molars to chew (which is where chewing is typically needed the most, and where it provides the most proprioceptive feedback to the jaw).
- •FIRM YET CHEWY, BUT NOT INDESTRUCTIBLE - Each ARK brand chew comes in 3 color-coded toughness levels. This green pendant is the middle level - firm, but still chewy. Although each person is different, this option is typically the best for mild to moderate chewers. Please note that no chew tool is indestructible. Because of the nature of the use, wear/tear should be expected eventually. Intense chewing may be able to chew through / cause damage to it quickly. Not for aggressive chewing.

The cord measures 36" from end to end. To adjust it to a shorter length: push the cord through one end of the clasp, re-tie the cord at the desired length, then trim off the excess cord). NOTE: the clasp and cord are NOT for chewing. Remind children to chew only on the pendant. Use should be supervised.

The cord is very long but this is easy to fix. When you open the clasp, you can slide down the plastic clasp half, make a knot at a better length and then cut off the excess cord. Then just slide the clasp back into place and put it on as usual. Now it's the perfect length.
This is a great buy for my lego loving 5 year old who bites his toes or bottom lip until he's sore. It's not dorky looking at all, some of chew necklaces look like a baby teether on a string. He was even complimented on it by other little boys on his cool necklace.
He's also using it as a fidget, rubbing his fingers over the nubs when concentrating.

My son chews on everything - his shirt, his fingers, pencils, pens... I wanted to get him something that would be a bit less problematic for his teeth. He also grinds his teeth when he isn't chewing. I got 2 Brick Stick Textured Chew Necklaces in my first order - one XT and one XXT. My son loved the green color of the XT, but he was able to chew the small nodules off the top of it quickly. He also likes the blue XXT. My only concern with these is that we have not replaced them several times because the clasp on the necklace doesn't hold well and when these are lost they are often picked up and taken home by other kids because they look like fun toys. My daughter found one being given away in her classroom after it had been dropped in the school. I would love to give this five stars, but since I have paid so much for so many lost due to the connectors I cannot.

I've purchased from Ark many years ago and although the price may be high for some, it is totally worth it. They won't come apart like the cheap ones on here from China. They're made and sold in the US, for your kids sensory needs. They have more products/shapes on their website as well.

I bought this for my 5yo high functioning ASD son that has a high oral sensory need. A couple years ago we invested in some T shaped chewy tubes and he always treated them like punishment and never loved them. We had since managed his need with a variety of sensory foods (marshmallows, crushed ice, gum) but it was getting worse. So I invested in this "Lego necklace" and it is a major hit!
I was afraid he wouldn't wear it, but he loves wearing it everywhere! He even chose it as his show and tell item item! Because he always has it around his neck, he can chew it whenever and we don't have to wonder what chewable items currently made it into mom's purse. If he pulls too hard on the string, it just snaps off his neck so it isn't a chocking hazard (important around his 1yo sister). I can't attest to its durability yet since we've had it for 3 days, but I expect it to hold up nicely to moderate and consistent chewing. My son loves this. The clasp is not harty like the block piece. So beware if your chewer is not observant, the clasp is able to be chewed.

Over time this chewy has worn out by the pegs. That is concerning depending if the user is aware and does not eat the pieces as it is worn away.
Use of chewing gum has been a good alternative but is age and ability dependent (meaning the gum will be chewed and kept in the mouth or disposed of in the trash). While this was in working condition my son loved it.
