This is cast aluminum and it could be more polished; however, it is well made and should last a lifetime. In addition, you may want to add a rubber tip to the end so you can assist other bothers if they need to be pushed off away from your boat.

These Boat Hook's are perfect versions of the brass model. The material is thick, and the taper inside fits a wooden handle well. The predrilled screw hole at the base allows the hook to stay mounted, even on a hard pull. What a value in regularly used boat hardware, especially in the package-of-two order quantity. Exactly what I wanted!
