Love this tonneau
T. H. Murray✓ Verified Purchase•October 28, 2023
I previously had a L**d tonneau, soft roll up, held down by velcro strips down the sides. I spent about $300-$400 for it. After the first year, and some shrinkage, it never really fit right. This one fits perfect. I love the multi points of cable release as you unfold the tonneau. Also, I no longer am required to stand at the back of the bed of the truck to pull on cables on both sides of the roll up tonneau to release the latches. I can stand on one side or the other of the tonneau and it releases both sides. Fold up is easy, however, with each fold you are not lifting more weight than the previous fold. By the time you are lifting the last fold it is a little awkward. I love the matte finish and looks very sleek overall on the bed of the truck. Much better than the roll up that sat about an inch above the level of the bed of the truck. Set up was ok, I took my time over about 90 minutes, distractions in-between, but if I had focused I am guessing I could have set the entire thing up in 20-30 minutes. There were a couple spots on instructions where they were not clear, however, the pics helped. One thing I wish they had provided were plugs to place in the holes at the front of the tonneau. I know they provide the tubes to help drain, however, my truck has a spray in bed liner, sealing the spots where you can pop out the plastic bed plugs and run your drain tube out. They recommend drilling a hole to place the end of the tube, but I would prefer to plug the holes of the tonneau and just let the rain or snow drain off on its own. I wasn't sure about the rubber seal around the edges as there were a couple points in which there were waives or bumps and it did not look like it was going to seal properly. They recommend getting out a blow dryer to heat up the rubber seal and it would eventually lay flat. They also recommended you could let is sit in the heat of the sun. I decided to do the latter. Within a few hours the rubber seal laid flat and smooth against the truck bed. Overall, I am very pleased with the product. Is it worth over $1000 you pay, that is up to you to decide. I don't believe it is. When I compare to others, roll up or hard flip tonneau, considering the latches and other aspects, I think it is more like a $650-$800 product, but no where near $1000.
Excellent tonneau cover

Bought this folding tonneau cover to replace a failed retractable type cover, very happy with it, solid, well made, very versatile, 1 small clip part supplied was the wrong type, contacted BAK Industries, a new part kit was sent out to me, the cover installation is complete. This is installed on a 8' bed F150,completely covers the bed, stays locked when the tailgate is locked, great security. Highly recommend!
2008 Ford F150 XL Supercrew 5.6 bed length.
Ernest Ramirez✓ Verified Purchase•October 13, 2023
Well, it fits!! LOL. Fit pretty good on my 2008 Ford F150 XL Supercrew cab. I have the 5.6 bed, with a plastic liner. The installation isn't too bad; all the hardware is included for installation. However, due to my truck having a factory bed liner, I had to cutout a hole where the drain "nipple" from the bracket meets the bed liner. If I chose not to, then my bracket for MX4 would have been installed at an angle. I used the same hole I created to run the drain tubes ( I made a hole on each side, driver and passenger). The only thing I noticed was on the driver side rear corner where the MX4 sits in the tailgate, for some reason it doesn't seem flush; the passenger side is fine. However, this can easily be my error in regards to installing the MX4 rails correctly. I really like the looks of the Bakflip MX4 on my Ford F150. I say it's worth getting. I didn't give it a 5 star ONLY because of that small area that doesn't seem flush. Again, it may be my error. And also, I had to remove the plastic liner that goes on the tailgate, that part was hitting the rails, and wasn't allowing me to shut the tailgate. I'm sure I could have shaved the part that was making contact, but I didn't want to. So I completely removed that plastic part.
Clean look, easy install with the exception of a quality control issue.

Let me start by saying that I love the way this cover fits and the flush, smooth look when it's closed. The install was pretty straightforward and would have been simple if not for an issue with quality control that almost caused a call to customer support to get an entire new roll top assembly. This is the reason it's got an initial 4-star review from me instead of 5.
After installing the front seal and both rails, I lifted the cover into place at the end of the bed and began rolling it out back towards the cab of the pickup. As you will see in the pictures I came across a spot in the cover that didn't sit properly and appeared to be badly bent. I spend some time trying to figure out exactly how it would have got that way when this section of the cover was almost in the center of the roll when boxed, there was no way it was shipping damage. After forcing the sides into the rails to latch them and lying inside the bed I still couldn't figure out what was going on and had decided I was going to have to call customer support and likely wait all over again for a replacement cover (this one was over a month from order date to delivery.) This is when I noticed while rolling the cover back up that it wasn't actually bent, the joint between the two slats was displaced the entire way across with the exception of the first 3 inches on the passenger side. A small pry bar and some elbow grease allowed me to get it seated the way it was meant to be and and everything looked good after that.

Survived 58-day, 28-state, 13,800 mile "Loop of the US!" Zero issues! 100% Satisfaction!

Bought a new(er) truck and wanted to keep the bed open, but also provide some secure storage! Looked at several possibilities before settling on this manufacturer and model to fit my 2013 Ford F-150 STX pickup. After about a month of driving around my local area with the top on, then left on a 58-day, 28-state and 13,800 mile circuit of the US (started in Saacramento & went Counter-Clockwise back to Sacramento). Not a single problem during the trip with the top. Easy open & close for a single person. Can be installed by a single person in only a few hours in an afternoon!
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to remember is to get the frame rails laid over the bed square (cannot emphasize this enough)! On the few reviews where it seems the product received less than favorable reviews, I am betting somebody got only "close enough" to making certain the frame rails were square & parallel with the truck bed before they bolted the top down permanently. If you take the few extra minutes to make sure all parts are aligned as they should be, then the final lock down of the top is quick & easy, resulting in a top that is secure and remains in place, but can easy be rolled out of the way when you want the bed clear for large loads. Only other point to make is that the security (lock-ability) of the top is assured only if your have a locking tailgate on your truck. we can haul three (3) 10.5 foot kayaks in my 2013 F-150 FTX extended cab and still roll the top over them as added security from something flying out of the truck bed. No better bed cover on the market as far as I'm concerned.
