WOULDN'T WORK WITH MY YARN - DISAPPOINTED BUT MEASURED BY WEIGHT INSTEAD
Linda Likes to LearnSeptember 1, 2017
I read all the reviews about this yarn counter, and though many said that it didn't work for them, I ordered it - thinking that there always though few people that just 'don't get it'. Unfortunately, the unit that I received DID NOT WORK. No matter how I tried to alter the ways I fed the yarn into the unit, it would NOT make the little 'counter bar' (over which the yarn runs to make the counter turn) move. I was using an acrylic fingering yarn, and even tried applying a good amount of pressure to make the bar roll - but it would not. It could be that a less 'slick' yarn like a wool might work better, but for me, it has to work with ALL types of yarn. The only reason I gave it two stars was because of the way it mounts to a surface. Several people commented that the hole was the wrong size - but it actually is perfect if you angle the clamp in just the right way, using the u-shaped bar instead of the round screw end. HOWEVER - I'd deduct 1/2 a star, if I could, for having NO instructions to explain the unusual way you have to insert the clamp. I finally gave up, returned it - and got out my kitchen scale that weighs in GRAMS - and halved my skeins by WEIGHT as I wound it - leaving the full skein on the scale, and winding from it until it showed to be half the regular weight. This quit working after just 2 uses. I fed the yarn through all 3 eyes and manually applied additional tension on the yarn going in, made sure the lever was in the on position, and adjusted the knob on the end in both directions, but nothing made the counter advance. I was really hoping this would be the answer to my search for a way to divide a skein of yarn in half without having to stop and weigh it in progress, but I'm returning it.
Cheep

Not completly satisfied with this. The instructions are cheep, doesn't really adjust for different size yarns. I can't run my yarn through it to my winder it's too tight. .. just not what I thought it would be...
It didn't work for me.

Returned the product. It was a bit of an effort to set up. Although I read the directions and the tips given on the other reviews, I still couldn't get it to work.
