Over priced but serve their purpose

Only bought this because I lost my test remote for my LVPRO1 and couldn't find a single replacement online. These testers will definitely save loads of time on the job but are WAY over priced. Feel is cheap. For this price, there shouldn't be stupid issues like the 1 and 7 stickers being on the wrong remote. The cheap little stickers took a minute to swap but for this much money a lot more quality control is expected. Also the design is poor in my opinion. This remotes won't plug side by side on a patch panel, they are too wide. In the application I am using this for, this is needed for mapping. I fixed this problem by getting some F to F RJ-45 couplers (more money spent) and some 1 ft. cat5e patch cords. Not a huge deal to me, but again for a product almost 5x what it should be there should be some better thought into practical design. Comes with a little Low Voltage Pro bag for storage. Overall poor quality, poor QC by manufacturer, and poor design, but I am still happy I have them. After running 8+ lines in a suite, one less thing I have to do at the end of the job is make 8+ trips back and forth for testing and labeling.
I would really think twice before purchasing this item!

Data option is the only I have used. My biggest issue and the reason for one star is how poor and low the tone is. I contacted Tripplett to inquire about the very low tone and their answer was that item had other options that were good as well. I had expressed to them that I ended up purchasing a $20 toner that can be heard with exact accuracy and that it was also very load and easy to find no matter the distance. The rep told me that he didnt doubt it but that often the tone can crossover port/cables next to it providing false reading. I told him that the problem here was how low the tone was on a $300 testing equipment that was very difficult to pick up even with earbuds!!!! Spend extra money for a more efficient tool or less if you want a good toner/tester
Disappointed

I purchased this item based solely on the reviews and truly had high hopes that it would be a good tool. I had never until receiving this unit had the opportunity to see this in person before my purchase. Based on my experience in the first hour of ownership, this is the first and the last Triplett product I will be purchasing. For the price of the unit I would have expected a better built tester. The battery cover on the unit that I received would not completely close, as it appears one of the battery contacts was not seated which caused the cover to noticeably bulge in the middle. The tester that snaps into the bottom of the unit would not stay in properly and kept wanting to fall backward and come undone. The "Smart" testers that were included with the package I received looked used?? The number 5 tester was already punched through the sticker to access the screw beneath at some point. The separate plastic package the Smart testers came in appears to have been opened and melted back together at some point. Out of 8 smart testers, 4 came back as a fail or the labels were wrong on the cable identification. The 10 locators that came with the tester all tested fine. Only the smart testers were the problem.
8-times more useful

Makes the testing device they are made for 8 times more useful. If you have a LVPRO Series Cable Tester and don't have these and test CatX cable, you would find these very helpful
Good Product

This cable tester is pretty solid. I was able to narrow down a couple network issues to bad patch cables that were installed about 8 yrs ago. This unit plugs into your computer by USB and if you have their software, you are able upgrade firmware and print out test results. Comes with several accessories to make your job easier.
