Neat little camera, but has heat related trouble
AtuorAugust 1, 2017
I really liked this product up until the battery inside expanded and caused the camera to split in two. Hot summer day is most likely one of the causes. I have a spare that I was using as rear facing camera (it stopped sticking to the back glass) that I'll use in the meantime. I may be able to remove the battery and keep it working but I shouldn't have to do this.

Update:
2 of the 3 Dash Cameras are no longer working. The one that is still working appears not to have any issues the other two have.
Works just fine, and I'd buy again

The camera generally works well. It comes with a 16GB micro SD card, but it fills up fast, so I'd get a 64GB one. The video quality is generally good, and it has built-in GPS and audio recording, both of which are a plus. It automatically powers off when you shut off your car, so that's nice too. The suction cup mount works fine for me in all the cars I tried.
The user interface on the camera is simple enough.
Something that isn't great about the product is the proofreading in the owner's manual.
When I first used the camera, its battery didn't seem to hold a charge. But, after having it plugged in my car for a week, that problem disappeared. Overall, pretty good camera for the money, and I'd buy it again.
BlackBox does not stand behind their product.

Camera worked for just over a month. one day the camera became completely unresponsive. I emailed BlackBox and received an automated response with procedures to correct problems as well as stating someone would respond to my inquiry within 48 hours. these procedures did not work on my camera. A week pasted and I received no response. I email again and receive the same automated message. Nearly a month has pasted and I have still received nothing from BlackBox. The camera is nice but BlackBox does not stand behind their product despite what the literature that comes with the camera state.
Came apart and extremely hot.

Not a bad cam when it was working. After 8 months I got into the truck to find the camera blown apart and really hot. Almost burned my hand trying to disconnect cables. Found the little pouch looking battery fully expanded to the point that it blew apart the casing and could not be put back together. I couldn't help but think that it could have set my truck on fire. I only left the camera plugged in while parked for about a couple of hours and only plug it in when I am driving or parked in a public place for short periods. I had mine installed above the rear view mirror and is not in direct sunlight.
Not quite as described, Low quality material.

I've owned this product for 9 months now, I bought 2 of them and there are a few issues with them. The face on one is separating from the body of the camera. The face is no longer the Black color it came as, it has turned some sort of brownish color. The menu no longer works on that one unless you squish the face together. The zoom feature on both gives you very poor quality images that can hardly be made out for what they are. The second camera continues to reboot once the ignition is turned off, but the description says the internal battery should last for a few minutes while the camera has a setting allowing up to 5 minutes of delayed power off. The cameras otherwise record as they should, but when using the GPS feature it shows your MPH as KM/H. I am currently attempting to contact the seller about the "1 year limited warranty", but have yet to receive a response.
