I thought I had already reviewed this product. Anyway, it works as it should although this is not the Bluetooth version that I have in my truck. I purchased this for my wife as she wanted one. It works okay but she can't upload the video to her phone wireless. I didn't know that Magellan made two different versions.

I shop on Amazon a great deal and this is first time I have ever written a review, I purchased the Magellan MiVue 638 and tried it out for a short drive. I then viewed the video on my computer. I was very disappointed with the quality of the video. In my opinion, the unit was defective, so I returned it. Please be advised, if you return the item you will have to pay a $25.00 restocking fee, as well as return shipping. So, read the small print on a vendors return policy and always shop with a reputable vendor.

Compact, easy to set up and use. Crisp picture.
Stay clear of this one if you are particular about how to wire your dash cam

First of all, this is a rare case of American company taking an Chinese product and made it worse than the original. This is a Megellan rebadged Mio dashcam. Mio has a long and diverse line of products and I've been a loyal user for the past many years. I saw this one on Amazon and decided to give it a try. Wrong decision, here's why:
1. You MUST use the included charger AND usb cable to power the dash cam. If you don't use the included USB cable, the suction cup holder is specially designed to hold the OEM cable ONLY. No other USB cable can be plugged into the camera, period. (This is not a problem with the OEM Mio Mivue dashcam)
2. You MUST use the included power plug, which is the size of a small ice cream cone, a major eye sore and takes up tremendous amount of space - third party micro power adapter would not power on the camera 9 out of 10 times. (OEM Mio also gets powered on by the vehicle's usb port with no problem)
3. GPS is nice, but there is no option to disable speed display on the dash cam. Imagine you getting into an accident that is entirely the other party's fault, then having the cops giving you a 10-20% liability just because you're a few miles per hour over the speed limit.
Everything else is fine. If you can live with everything I mentioned above, this is not a bad product. But for me, by restricting the type of USB cable that I can use to power the dashcam, the factory has essentially handicapped it and it deserves nothing more than a 1 star rating.
