ONE OF THE BEST PURCHASES I'VE EVER MADE!
Carolyn P.✓ Verified Purchase•July 30, 2023
These are soooo wonderful... I can't say enough good about them. I have a 90 yr old in the house who puts onion ad garlic uncovered into the refrigerator, so we had to either get accustomed to drinking garlic flavored tea and sodas or find some way to make ice without the added flavoring. I do love garlic but not in my drinks!! Anyway, these are wonderful, the tops fit snugly so that no odors get into the ice. The cubes are the perfect size, larger than average so you have less watering down of the drinks,.Also I use two trays of ice per day to fix a thermos pitcher of ice water for the 90 yr old. I tried the 2 inch cubes and they were too big so I had to break them up with an ice pick so I could fit them in, which defeats the idea of the larger cubes! These are perfect, and I have never seen ice trays so easy to remove the ice from!!! I can't find anything negative to say about them! They look like they will last me a very long time but I am considering ordering a few more to have on standby just in case someone decides to discontinue making them. Oh, one other thing, most of the silicone trays are kind of flimsy when filled, but the tops on these stiffen them up. THANKS FOR A TRULY GREAT PRODUCT IN EVERY WAY.
Best silicon trays yet - no smell, no film

This is my third try at silicon trays - and someone finally got it right.
We freeze juices and teas, and use about two trays of the stuff every day. So despite running them under warm water and taking good care of them, regular plastic trays crack quickly, and some of them have caused foul tasting or smelling ice. So I've made several runs at silicon trays, and each time they have been a disappointment either due to the white film that accumulates or the trays being too flimsy to handle.
So I have to say, these are far and away the best silicon trays I have tried. After a couple days there is no film and no smell. The trays are study enough that I can place them easily in the freezer with one hand, and they stack well full or empty.
As an added bonus, removing cubes is easier than any other brand I've tried. Just a quick pop with your finger from the underside and you can take out one cube at a time, or you can twist it around and empty the whole tray. They have frozen together a couple times when stacked, but only if we overfill the tray at the bottom. And they pull apart with ease anyway.
My only complaint is that because there is no channel for fluid to flow from one cube compartment to the adjacent ones, we end up with varying cube sizes, and fixing one that you've filled too high is difficult (you have to sort of push the wall down and spill the compartment).
If these stand the test of time - I'll be back to add the final star.

Good tray with an asterisk or two.

I bought these ice trays initially without really reading into a lot of the reviews. In the time before it came I went back and looked, and was a little worried, but I bought two different ones as well, so I figured I had backups if these sucked as much as some of the reviews claimed. The things that stuck out to me were the difficulty in removing the cubes, and the smell. I mean, I was getting these because my old trays wouldn't let me have my ice cubes without an epic fight.
Upon getting the trays, there was definately a nasty smell that I couldn't get washed out. So I just left them on the counter and after a few days they had aired out. Now time for some ice!
These do take some care to fill. As someone else pointed out, the dividers are at about the same height as the lip of the tray itself, so it's not hard to overfill one and have it spill on the counter if you're not paying attention or don't have the hand strength to hold the water steady if you pour from a brita jug or something like I do. Filling from the tap shouldn't be an issue though.
Don't have any problem with the tray sagging and spilling when I take it to the freezer just holding the sides. There is some give, but not enough to be a problem to me.
Finally, getting ice out of the tray. It's definitely more difficult than that easy release tray here and that ~$16 tray here, the other two I bought. I can see real problems for people with below average hand strength. But for most healthy adults, it shouldn't be too much of a problem once you get the hang of it. A lot easier if you just bend the tray backwards around each cube as you push it from below. And still worlds easier than a bad plastic tray that would rather crack in half than let your cubes out.
All in all, good tray if you like the shape and you're not short on hand strength, and can wait a few days to let them air out. They also make a lot of ice for their size, a big advantage if you've got a really small freezer. But the other two trays are definately better trays, and I'd recommend these only if you prefer the square shape and don't want to shell out ~$16 for the better tray.

Good-sized ice cubes, easier to use than classic trays

I replaced my plastic ice trays with these silicon ice trays. I was concerned that they would be floppy (like the silicone bakeware I have), but the bottom and sides are firm.
They are no more difficult to fill and place in the freezer -- and take up at least 25% less space -- than regular plastic trays, (See my video for side-by-side comparison.) YouTube video: https://youtu.be/BOUoW0NoU-A
Others have found the ice cubes difficult to pop out. You just do it differently than plastic trays. Don't twist; just push from the bottom. See my video.
The company recommends filling each section two-thirds up. I fill them all the way up with no problems. Makes perfect-sized cubes for most drinks.
The quality is very good and it appears that they will hold up for a long time. I will update this review if that is not the case. However, the classic plastic trays I've been using for about a month are already starting to crack.
Highly recommend these ice trays.

The best silicone ice trays I've tried.

They work pretty much as described, though I find it difficult to fill the compartments uniformly to the desired depth. This is necessary to get the cubes to "pop" out per the instructions. I suspect my freezer is a little colder than usual, too. I find they work best when allowed to sit for a minute or two at room temperature, or run hot water over the outside before extracting the cubes. It also helps to flex the tray slightly while pushing out each cube.
Other reviewers have complained about white deposits on the trays or cubes which sometimes plate out on the glass. As I partially explained in my earlier comment to a review, these are likely due to one or all of the following: 1, mineral deposits from the water; 2, form release agent on the trays; 3, excess silicone oil from the tray itself. Mineral deposits from the water will be trapped by the form release agent and or silicone oil. Some of this mixture will float away from the melting cubes and plate out on the glass. The solution to the problem is simple:
Start by following the directions to wash them thoroughly in HOT water, letting them soak for five minutes in the sudsy water (not longer). I recommend using Simple Green or Simple Green Lime Scale Remover, the latter especially after the first or second use, as directed. The Simple Green will remove any form release or silicone"”in fact it is the only thing I've found that readily removes silicone oils (at least that you want to use on a food container!) You can also wash, freeze some cubes, sacrifice these cubes and wash again. Although we have softened water, it still contains some dissolved lime. We never had any white deposits, and we melted an entire tray of cubes in a glass jar after the initial cleaning.
