This pill dispenser is great for helping people manage their medications. It prevents elderly people from taking too much medicine each day by dispensing the dosage only at the proper time. The device locks and has a timer. The programming was slightly frustrating, but I think I've got it down now.

While using a traditional pill organizer, my Dad would have pills left over for the week or he would take too many pills in one day. This device is Heaven sent. I set alarms for 8 AM and 8 PM. When an alarm goes off, he tilts the unit to pour the pills into a bowl which turns off the alarm. It was recommended to purchase the unit with the white lid instead of the clear lid. I believe the white lid keeps the focus on the compartment that is open. I think the clear lid would cause too much of a distraction.

My mother has Alzheimer's & this help control how much she takes. The light flashes red & it has a loud beep. The on negative thing is if you have fat finger's it's hard to get the pills out. The 3 Rd picture is my mother taking a knife and force it open and guess what? I put it back together and it still works

This was exactly what we were looking for:
Has an alarm and flashing light when it's time for pills.
Somewhat easy for patient to use; to dispense the meds just tip the device into the hand.
This was for an elderly patient who lives alone and gets mixed up on the days of the week. Sometimes she would not take her pills and other days she would take them and the next days also. Now- right on time, the red light flashes and she tips the dispenser and out comes her dose for that day. She can't really understand a calendar half the time so this works. She lives in a safe environment and has help from her family. Short of daily visits to hand her the pills-this is an exceptionally good solution that has mostly worked.
The unit locks and we opted for the solid white cover not the clear one -to prevent confusion.
Minor concerns:
This device works well but not very rugged. I think it could be damaged if dropped.
The setup really requires the instructions and isn't always intuitive. We watched the videos several times to set it up. Keep the instructions and the key!
This is not a wall powered device with battery backup but simply a battery powered unit.
Two major drawbacks are that oval pills get stuck in the tray even when flipped over. The older person didn't see that some pills were left in the tray because the pills are white and the tray compartments are white. I find several missed pills every month when I unlock and refill the dispenser. A dark colored tray with slightly bigger slots would solve that issue.
UPDATE-We have discontinued this dispenser. We spray painted a disk dark and that helped her see the pills but my mother was shaking the dispenser upside down on her palm so much that the tray was off center and dispensing 2 days worth of pills. Also, the tiny pills were not staying in their daily compartments.

My mom has vascular dementia and she recently came to live with me. I would administer her meds, but on a few occasions she took them herself if she woke up before I did. Of course this was of concern because now I'm wondering if she really took them and of course she doesn't know what time it was. Asking her not to administer her own meds caused her to get angry and say stuff like...well fine I won't take them at all anymore. I needed a solution that struck balance btwn my need to keep her safe and her need to feel "in control". The dispenser locks and administers at the programmed times. Now, when I hear the device sounding that it's time to take meds, I can slyly just watch her to make sure she's taking them. The only criticism I would make is that the lock is a pain in the rear to open for refilling. I got the white lid based on another person's review that said in part that he regretted the clear lid because his mother could see the meds in the device and kept trying to go to it and was frustrated cause she couldn't get to them even though she could see them.
