Antenna wiggles while driving. Not held securely.
prime suspectDecember 13, 2017
It is handy to pull off the antenna when parking in the garage, but the spring is not strong enough. There is slop, and the antenna is not held firmly in the base, so it isn't held firm;ly enough.
Not sure that's good for the signal

The quick connect seems solid, but has quite a lot of play. Not sure that's good for the signal.
Nothing but joy!

I've had nothing but joy with this quick disconnect. I am sorry for the folks that have had problems with theirs. Some of the negative reviews really make me wonder if the have installed this correctly. Yes, the sticker is "upside down" when installed! The knurled piece with the moving parts (female part) attaches to your antenna, and the steel post (male part) attaches to the mounting stud. VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE: this is not an antenna mounting stud (I think some other reviewers were trying to use it as such, and installing it upside down) - this is a quick disconnect that installs between your mounting stud and antenna. Installed correctly, I have no issues with wobble.

Feels very secure. Tough to calibrate an antenna with the amount of "wiggle". Installed properly and I have no worries of losing my firestik. It makes a noticeable amount of noise and plays hell on your swr.

It's a solid piece of equipment, but for me, it's showing a good amount of surface rust after only a few months of having it on the truck. I'm probably going to paint it soon. Definitely not made out of a good enough quality of stainless steel.
