A pretty decent jump rope
ys✓ Verified PurchaseDecember 23, 2023
This is a pretty decent jump rope. I like the long handle, and the grip remains tight for a couple hours of exercise on a hot summer day. The rope is easily adjustable (and cut). I give it four stars because it lasted only for a month, and I had expected it to be a bit more durable. I used it exclusively on an outdoor parking lot covered with the concrete. I keep track of my exercise and jumped for approximately 80,000 times when the rope snapped at the half length. I saw no visible sign of wear so was thinking of it as pretty durable. I do not remember seeing the specific instruction as to where this product is intended to be used. But having seen the instruction of other jump ropes, these things should in general be used indoors or on a smooth surface for longer durability rather than on the concrete (which may be considered the "rough ground"). Perhaps the product I received happened to be less sturdy. Currently, I am using other jump ropes, which seem much less durable, and may eventually come back to this product. I suggest giving it some thought on which surface to jump on if jumproping is part of your daily routine and you want your rope to last for as long as you expect (you might also want to stock an extra jump rope as a backup when the one you are using breaks unexpectedly).
Fantastic jump rope for the money.

Compared to brand-name ropes which cost two to three times the price as this one, this jump rope does exactly what it's supposed to do. I've learned that with this rope in particular, it requires some serious speed and the wrists to be turned slightly up in order to keep it stable. Because of those two factors, it really gives you a strong workout and gets your blood pumping very quickly.

Adjusting this rope is extremely easy. Simply loosen the set screw and pull the rope through. I've let friends use this rope and they were able to set it to their preference, jump, then set it back to mine without issue. Granted, the excess rope hanging out the handle made it a little more challenging for them to jump, but even they enjoyed the way it felt.

I am still fairly inexperienced with jumping rope, but performing double-unders with this rope was easier than I anticipated. Be warned, though, with the speed this thing is carrying, it will leave bruises on your shins, toes (even through shoes), or anything else it makes contact with. I've contemplated replacing the PVC rope with a coated steel cable, but that may come further down the line.

My only complaint about this rope are the handles, which nets it the four star rating. They are very light in weight and very slim. If you have larger hands like I do, it helps to wrap them once or twice in a thick material (think racing bicycle grip tape). It also may help to take the end caps off the handles and fill them with something for a little extra heft.

In summary, this is a great jump rope for beginners and advanced people alike. For the money, it's definitely hard to beat.
This is a pretty good rope

This is a pretty good rope. Nice weight (i like heavier ropes due to the momentum you can create) and it turns very fluid. I only have 2 issues with the rope. 1 is the handle thickness. The handles are a little thin for my hands. My thumbs start to hurt after a few minutes. 2. the grip tape used on the handles is kinda slick. Seriously, these are simple fixes that I can remedy with some foam and athletic tape. To be fair, I didn't know that the thin handles was going to be a problem for me. My hands might be a little big for these handles and that's why they hurt after a few minutes.

These issues aside, the rope is pretty nice and is fairly easy to adjust the length. I've only used it for one jumping session, so I have no idea how sturdy the rope is.
Solid Winner!

Had this rope almost a year, making it my longest lasting rope ever. By far. Thanks to the quality swivels, this is the first rope I've had that broke at the center and not the handles. I'm sure it would've lasted even longer had my jumping not been banished to the murderous pavement outside thanks to my having joined an authoritarian gym that places the feelings of delicate flowers above the needs of people actually trying to exercise. And when the rope snapped? I went online to see what else was out there and came across this listing again and saw that it had a lifetime warranty! Totally forgot that. All I needed to do was take a picture of the rope, send them my address and boom, I had a brand new rope in my mailbox in two days- and all I was expecting was a new cord. However, it was a good thing that they did send a new one, since the handle grips started coming loose. All in all, this is a very good rope, unlike any rope I've owned. I do prefer a lighter, faster rope with shorter handles, but that's just my personal preference. For the price and my aforementioned preferences, it would normally get four stars from me. But the lifetime warranty, excellent customer service and ease of length adjustment puts it at a solid five stars. Well done Dynapro. You have a customer for life.

PS- I even used it in a little promo spot for my coloring book, [[ASIN:1943652023
Adventure Buddies: Youuuge Book of the Coloring for Winners. You can find the video on my instagram account, adventurebuddies888. I dress up like Putin and jump rope until my face falls off.
This is the one you've been looking for.

Short Version: This is a very good jump rope--go ahead and buy one (or two... see below).

Long Version: I have tried a lot of different ropes--from basic ones with no ball-bearings (e.g. ones similar to the simple one Floyd Mayweather uses) to various wire-cable speed ropes (used by Olympic-level jump rope athletes, and insanely-fit CrossFit enthusiasts)--and this rope is my overall favorite.

As a mere mortal, this rope suits my purposes well. I generally do a cumulative 10-minute jump rope workout, doing as many double-unders (DU) as I can. Out of all the different ropes I've used, this rope has the right mass for doing DUs. For me, the wire speed ropes are too light so I don't get the momentum I need. I am of average athletic ability so I can't do a lot of consecutive DUs (which, if you're up to that, a wire rope might be better for). I have to take a few single skips between each DU, so I find the weight of this rope good for that style. I imagine you could learn to do DUs with this rope then try a faster wire rope (find what works for you).

This rope is not cheap, but it is worth it (and on sale it's definitely worth it!)

Pluses: good bearings; smooth rotation; good plastic cable (not too thin, not too thick, supple enough that kinks from storage easily work themselves out); the light-weight metal handles are a nice length (not too short). Thus, by positioning your grip on the handles, while you are jumping, you can make micro-adjustments in the overall length (this is good, because things change from day to day depending on your muscle tension, the temperature etc.; and how you want to position the rope changes as you get warmed up); the little screw-mechanism to adjust the cable length is very easy to use and secure (you can check it now and then after prolonged use to make sure it's tight--but this is not really an issue).

The rope is durable. I've been using mine for a couple of years, dropped it many times and it still works like new. I actually bought two of these ropes, as the cable is permanently fixed to one of the handles and the adjustment/securing screw is on the other. I wanted perfect symmetry (which I think affects the smoothness of the rotation a bit). So I took my first rope and cut the cable off the non-screw handle where the cable is permanently attached. Then, using the second jump rope unit, I made a customized rope where both handles now have the adjusting screw. This is not necessary, but, in my opinion, it makes an even better jump rope (so buy two on sale!). From the second rope I have an extra cable for when the first cable (eventually) wears out.

Since I jump on a 3/4"-thick rubber horse stall mat (in my garage, or on my driveway), it will be years before the cable wears out. I recommend getting such a mat (about $40 at a farm supply store for a 4'X6' mat--if this is more than you need there are other options). You can get the thinner, softer, foam jigsaw-fitting pieces. These work too, but aren't as good or as durable. The harder rubber mat gives you some cushion (you'll want this if you plan on jumping for years to come) without being too spongy (which can mess up your jumps). If you don't have a mat, and you jump on a concrete surface that isn't totally smooth, the cable will wear out much faster (and very fast with a coated-wire speed rope--you'll soon see sparks!).

One other thing that's nice about this rope is that the cable is heavy enough that it's not as easily affected by wind. If you jump outside, wind can be a problem with lighter wire cables.

Aesthetics: I think the grip coating--with little holes that create a polka-dot appearance--look dorky. So I wrapped my handles in black hockey tape--much more cool!

Summary: great rope; buy two (and a rubber mat to jump on)! Don't be discouraged if it takes you awhile (like even a year...) to get DUs, but ultimately DU are the way to go--you can get a serious workout in a short time (HIT).

Jumping rope is more fun, and a better overall body workout, than jogging/running/grinding away on an elliptical (every American basement has one of these... collecting dust). Pretend you're a boxer training for the title match! Where else in adult life do you get the chance to "skip?" For inspiration, watch You Tube videos of amazing rope skillz (treadmill videos, not so much...)

Q: Is this jump rope really worth 30-something bucks (is it worth it to get healthy and feel good...)?
A: **** YES!
