Very handy to use, and compact to store. The Bluetooth app is comprehensive & clear. Some other reviewers complained about battery life, but the batteries it takes are very inexpensive, so for the occasional griller, not that big a deal.
The suggested app works great.. On a recent low and slow

I purchased this device from the end of season bargin bin at Kroger for $10.

The device certainly does what it claims to do. It gives an accurate display of the temperature being read by the included remote thermocouple probe.

Yes, you must leave the brain of the device outside the enclosed cooking area.. That's how these things work... If you want to leave the reader and the probe inside the oven together, you are more than welcome to do so. But by doing so, you are most certainly going to reduce the life span of the device.

As to its special features?
Via bluetooth, it synched up to all the mobile devices I tried to synch it up too. The suggested app works great..
On a recent low and slow, smoked picnic shoulder adventure, in was able to monitor the roasts internal temp on the smoker from the safety and security of the indoor kitchen, on my tablet, as I worked on the rest of the meal.

Any complaint I can up with is the range of the Bluetooth signal.
But then I thought about it a little, then decided that I had paid $10 for a thing that sends temperature readings to a Bluetooth enabled device with the power of a 3.5v watch battery and thought that this was a minor concern all things considered when you think about all the horrible things going on in the world... I hear things are really bad down in Haiti.

Oh! And when making a custom cooking profile on the app, you get this big txt field for the name, but then when you start typing, there is a limit... So "pulled pork" can only ever be "pulled po" and I don't think thats right.
