So far I am very pleased with this modkit, even though I just received it. The process of swapping out the earcups/ear cushions, microphone, speaker tags, and even the headband, is INCREDIBLY easy.

I was under the impression that the headband would be an absolute pain to remove, but it was so simple. Just follow the diagram on the box, and you'll swap everything in and out in under a minute. Admittedly the next thing that also concerned me the most, apart from the headband, was the microphone. Many people have said that the mic falls down way too easily, and I can say that it does fall down easier than the stock mic.

However! Unless you are moving your head in an extreme motion from left to right, for example, then the mic will pretty much stay where you have it placed. Also it is worth noting that the material used for the headband, and earcups, is super soft. If you go by the pictures, the "leather" might seem uncomfortable, but that is certainly not the case.

The noise isolation would be the main reason why you are getting this headset though, everything else aside. For me the noise isolation is not as aggressive as I thought it would be, but you can definitely hear less background noise with a noticeable increase in bass. Ultimately I think this modkit is worth $60, seeing as how you would normally have to buy a second pair of headsets/headphones if you wanted a closed back option after settling on an open back one.

This do exactly what Astro states they will do. Everyone is always so negative in their product reviews, and get so fixated on one thing they don't like. I love the mod kit.

PROS:
Noise cancelling, the hole for the mic does NOT affect it. Included noise canceling mic is longer, and more durable. It takes some breaking in. The red color goes PERFECT with my setup and make them look excellent. The surround is amazing and the bass is boosted a bit. I saw a lot of people complaining about not knowing what direction footsteps are coming from, I haven't had that issue. Also the leather pads are super comfortable.

CONS:
Ear fatigue due to the isolation, and negative pressure that they create. This however is necessary to cancel noise out. Pricey for what it is, but overall I'm satisfied.

I've used a lot of headsets for gaming and my Astro a40's were the most expensive so far. When they announced this mod kit, I didn't think much of it till I watched a video fully explaining all the benefits. The difference it makes is almost unexplainable, but I'll try. The volume seems to have increased 50% just from the solid magnetic pads and better ear cushions. The added comfort alone, makes me recommend this kit to anyone. The shining product in this kit is the microphone. A whisper can be heard clearly without the mic being halfway in my mouth. I wasn't a fan of the stock color scheme of the ear cushions, headband and pads, so it's great that Astro offers the kit in multiple colors.

Absolutely worth the purchase. Took 30 seconds to assemble everything, the top part was a little scary to snap off but the headset is pretty flexible.
One major pro - The noise cancellation feature is extremely solid, it's really neat how much less you hear.

One "potential" con - if your ears are bigger than the average joe, I would stray away from this mod kit as the ear cups are in fact tight as I saw on some video reviews. They feel tight and you have to make sure it doesn't fold your ear, taking them off after 1 hour of playing was fine, but if you play often I'd imagine some sweat builds up. But that's not a product defect or anything they could work against, in reality its completely fine but for the scarce few that have elephant ears I'd worry about it, haha.

For the three reasons I bought it:
4.5/5 for comfort.
5/5 for noise cancellation
5/5 for style ! these mod kits definitely make the headset pop! If your gonna spend 150+ on a headset, may as well make them look even better !

Very good quality and does a pretty darn good job at being noise cancelling. I, also, love how easy it is to switch the original parts out from the ASTRO Gaming A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro TR for Xbox One with this mod. The only negative I have is the fact that the mod, which is used to provide noise cancellation and aesthetics, is not a part of the original headset and actually costs quite a few bills. However, I cannot take a way stars from my review just because I do not like the prices, which is why I left my review at five stars.
