This worked out really well for our needs. Our 5 month old GSD pup was spayed and I really did not want to use the cone of shame. I decided on a combo of the neck donut and this. The neck donut didn't really prevent her long snout from getting around it but the Surgi Snuggly kept her from getting at the staples. In fact, I believe it kept her comfortable enough that she was not really interested in pursuing them. The velcro pocket system offered adequate access so she could do her business normally without the hassel of taking the entire thing on and off. I found the re-folding into the pocket a little too time consuming for a pup on the go so instead of fastening it the proper way when she was headed for business, I rolled it up and tucked it under the elastic. This is by no means necessary, was just easier for me than getting her to sit still long enough to do it the proper way. When I did take it off, it went in the wash and came out like new! It reminds me of a bathing suit like material to give folks an idea of what you are getting so I felt it was breathable, stretchable without being constricting, easy to clean and for us was the perfect solution. I give it 5 paws!

I bought a Medium Short for our ShihTzu, who measures 14" from neck to base of tail and is 13lbs. I was worried about the sizing, but it is perfect. The chart says this fits 12"-15" and 20-30lbs, so I was worried it might be too loose. The material is stretchy like a ladies swimsuit and seems well made. I bought this to prevent his licking after a groomer's mistake causing clipper burn around his privates. He hates the cone and does not sleep well with it. I put this on him a few hours ago to get him used to it. It looks very comfortable, but he is glued to the floor and thinks he cannot walk. He does not like it covering his rear end, but he's starting to get used to it.

Heard about this as my pup was struggling with the cone not getting any sleep. Ordered it, it changed our lives--I don't exaggerate this point!! So comfortable for him and he couldn't get to the area to lick and irritate. Not hard to get on and off but takes a minute. It all pulls up around chest and tucks so your dog can go to the bathroom. I wish so bad I had this with my other dogs. I am telling everyone who has to neuter or spay their dog. This is such a smart product and very affordable!!

This snuggly was a life saver! In anticipation of our puppy getting spayed, we looked on Amazon for a soft collar that could be used instead of the "cone of shame." We found this Surgi Snuggly suit while we were browsing and decided to buy both a small and medium to see how it would fit our 6-month-old chihuahua mix. We brought the snuggly suits and the soft collar when we picked her up from the vet, and the vet said the soft collar was too big. He had never seen the Surgi Snuggly before but said it would work just fine instead of the cone. We kept our puppy in the cone for one day and it was torture for her. She kept pawing at it and it was hard for her to rest comfortably. We took off the cone and put the Snuggly suit on her. She has used both the small and medium during her recovery. It is well worth every penny to see her able to sleep soundly and scratch her ears as she pleases. We actually keep the back part "undone" all the time (we don't velcro it to cover her private parts) since the suit covers her entire belly just fine with it open. However, if you are leaving your dog unattended, then definitely keep it closed so she can't get to her stitches. I would highly recommend this as an option to the Elizabethan collar/e-collar/cone of shame for the comfort and sanity of your dog.

First of all, sizing: I have a large German Shepherd (around 90 lbs) and I ordered her an XLL and it fits her perfectly. There is a little bit of flexibility in the sizing as the garment is stretchy and there is an adjustable strap that goes around the dogs belly.

Now on to the functionality: My dog has severe hotspots. She will chew herself bloody, to the point that she leaves blood spots on the carpet. Nothing else has worked to keep her from itching them. We used an Elizabethan cone collar but she started using her hind leg to scratch her side, which was actually worse. I put this on her and within days her spots had dried up and started healing. I was worried that it would hold in moisture and cause infection but it is very breathable. I put it on her shortly after a bath and she dried just fine. This product is an absolute life saver. It works like a charm and I know my dog is much more comfortable than she is in a cone.

A couple of notes: it is a little difficult to put on the first time but it seems comfortable once it's on. Also, be sure to unfasten the back before letting your dog outside unless you want to deal with a big mess. Overall, we couldn't be happier with this!
