While this does get knots out it is not effective ...

While this does get knots out it is not effective as an actual comb. Neither of our dogs are fans of this as it is very loud when you hit the button to get a knot out. We have a Wheaten Terrier and a Border Collie. I gave this product 3 stars because it does work to cut out knots, other than that not really a miracle product. We still use just a regular brush and metal dog comb.

I was excitedly waiting to get this item after I saw the commercial on tv. Needless to say, it did not do what it was supposed to. First of all, after I had to place 4 AAA batteries in, I attempted to use the comb to "gently remove knots" from my dog, who was recently groomed. So, he was not full of knots or matted or anything. The very loud buzz of the comb scared him and, after the two of us tried to use it, to remove the knot (which was near his back leg), it did not work at all. A waste of money, in my opinion, so I am returning it.

I bought 1 unit, loaded 4 new AAA batteries. It continually jammed ever 10 or 20 seconds. Did not remove much hair. After a few minutes the motor or blades jammed. New batteries did not resolve. Returned for a replacement. The new unit was loaded up with new batteries. This jammed in a few seconds. VERY POORLY DESIGNED! Motor is underpowered. Batteries should be bigger. Might work if you have a hairless cat, but not suitable for a cockapoo.

I was very excited about this product when I read about it. Unfortunately, I should also have read the reviews. It worked marginally well. My dog still yelped when going through a know and the blades I think are terrible. I went on the Knot Out website and I was confused as to why they offer an upgrade with steel blades. Does that mean the one I bought has what kind of blades? I can't find that information anywhere. Why were we not told there was an upgraded model. I would have tried that first!
