Seems pretty effective removing undercoat without disturbing outer layer. My husky does not like to be brushed, but will tolerate a short session with this tool, which lessens shedding, which is a constant with this breed. Smaller than I expected, but that's ok. One side is kind of a back scratcher, which she likes, the comb side removes underlayer.

This seems like a decent product. I tried it on my cat and he didn't like it very much. It definitely removed tons of hair, but my cat acted as if I was pulling his hair. My cat is also pretty sensitive in general, so this could also be a reason why. Overall a good product! I will definitely interchange it with my cat brush.

This thing is seriously amazing! I have two long haired Border Collies and a long haired Collie, and during the spring shedding things aren't pretty. I brushed all three just before the UPS guy showed up with the box that contained this, so I thought I wasn't going to see much hair come out...wrong, wrong, WRONG. It was unreal how much undercoat it combed out, like I'd never even taken a brush to any of the dogs! I thought the three of them would have had enough of being brushed, but they all seemed to enjoy it much more and didn't try to leave or get restless. I am seriously impressed. The collie fell asleep on her side while I was brushing her with this, and she's the most sensitive of the three. I will say that my dogs work for a living and get brushed maybe once every six weeks or more during the winter, but a lot more during the spring when they shed, so if you regularly groom your dogs you might not see quite the amazing results that I did -- but maybe you will. Also, another tip...I wouldn't use this in the house as the hair that doesn't stay in the comb tends to float up or get stuck to your sleeves, jeans, and hands. I used it outside and was glad I did because I would have had hairy furniture, hairy walls, hairy floors, hairy everything.

This dogs fur is so thick, nothing works. I decided to try this on a whim and so glad I did! It IS AMAZING and worth every penny! Our cats love it too!

I've got an Aussie that could be brushed for days. I've tried everything-pin brushes, slickers, rakes, combs, special shampoos, Everything. I was a professional groomer so really everything. This comb pulls out the cottony undercoat beautifully-leaves the slick hair overcoat. I will say it's best to do it outside because hair starts flying. Worked on my cat, too.
