These scales are awesome..

These scales are awesome...except that they time out pretty quickly and turn off. For normal cooking stuff (weighing ingredients, etc) I shouldn't think this would be a problem, but I was using it for coffee (pourovers, chemexes) at home and I need a scale that stays on long enough for me to pour my water to the right ratio. This is not that scale, which is a shame because I literally have no other complaint with these. They're really nice to look at, they weigh accurately, and you can't beat the price.
Don't waste your money!

This scale is a piece of junk, not worth even one star. I've had it for about a year now only using it occasionally. I thought it was measuring everything fine until I noticed the weight shown depended on where on the scale you placed the item. If you move the item around the weight indicated could vary by as much as 50%.
Today I weighed a package for shipping weight (well within the 11 pound limit of the scale) and the weight shown was only about half of what I expected. Again, moving it around on the scale would cause the weight to change but the closest the scale got to the actual weight was slightly more than half of the actual weight.
To confirm this error in weight, I weighed a small dumbbell of about the same weight as the package, The result was the same. The scale showed the 5lb. dumbbell weighed only 2lbs 10ozs.
Like I said, JUNK!

Replacement

I had this exact scale for years. It's very accurate and has so many options for measurement. It has a large measuring plate and I love the high weight max! My only issue is that I wish it had a back lit display. Even without it, when my old one broke (I dropped it) I ordered the exact same one to replace it. It's a great scale!
Great General Purpose Lab Balance

Excellent balance. It even calibrated with a 400gram calibration weight to exactly 400grams. It is very sturdy, and gives stable weighings. Very easy to clean and it still looks brand new with constant usage over the last two months. Great price too. I use it in the lab every day. Highly recommend.

I have used a similar scale from Harbor Freight for the last half dozen years. It finally gave up the ghost. I checked Amazon and found this scale for significantly less money. It looks better, has all the same features and is a bit easier to use. So how precise? I weighed a pound (454 grams) of dried beans on my old one and it came out to 464 grams (few extra beans and the bag). This new on showed 463 grams! Only one gram difference! Unbelievable. So it is definitely precise (both are) and probably accurate as well. So no down side. Hope is lasts!
