We recently bought a new mattress that I really liked for the first couple of months. Then I started waking up in the middle the night with my shoulder and hip aching and couldn't go back to sleep. I decided that a mattress topper might solve the problem and started reading lots of reviews. Finally decided on this one with the gel infusion and holes, hoping that it would not sleep hot. Since several people had mentioned the odor I decided to let the king topper air out before putting it on the bed and left it spread out on a queen-size bed for a day, even though there did not seem to be any smell. We already had two ordinary mattress pads, one next to the new mattress and the older one on top of that. I put the mattress topper in between, leaving the older, thin mattress pad on top of it to keep it clean. Having the thin mattress pad over the topper seemed to help the sheets go on more easily, too. I wasn't sure how well we would like the topper but my husband and I both slept really well on it. No shoulder or hip aches, and even my husband, who gets warm too easily, said it did not sleep hot, and that his back felt better than without it. So far, I am very pleased.

When I first opened the package I have to admit that I was a little disappointed. Except for the color I didn't think it looked much like the picture. When I unwrapped it, I thought it was too thin and I honestly thought I have been ripped off. But I read on the packaging that it takes about 48 hours for it to decompress from packing configuration. So I put it on my bed and let it sit for the rest of the day. Come bedtime, I unmade the bed, put this topper directly on the mattress, and put everything else on top of it (flannel fitted and top sheets, a thin blanket and a thick comforter) I crawled into bed and was IMMEDIATELY struck by how comfortable it seemed. I pulled the covers over my wife and I and went to sleep. Well, I am not ashamed to admit that my initial disappointment was wrong! I have been sleeping on this topper for a little more than a week now and I must say that it improved my sleep experience quite a bit. I am not certain that it decompressed to a full 2" thick, but what it has is plenty. I am very happy with my purchase and I recommend it to others.

Hard to find these ...or a mattress even....without memory foam. I bought even though i knew better thinking it wouldn't be hot. As suspected it is. Not nearly as bad as a solid regular tan memory foam topper but is still hotter than the old kind of open cell foam pads. Great for winter....horrible for summer unless you keep your ac around 68f at night. But it is comfortable and softened up our firm mattress a little which is all that was needed. Side sleeper and do notice less turning at night from pressure on hips. Fits king mattress perfectly which was nice as these are typically undersized leaving a 'ledge'. Overall comfortable, well made, gassed off plastic smell in about 72 hrs (pro tip: unpack, throw on top of guest bed, turn on ceiling fan, and shut door for 24 hrs to speed up process), inexpensive compared to others, and fits well. But did knock off a * for 'cooling' in description.....memory foam = hot and there is no magic gel or design to get around that. I would suggest anyone stating this sleeps cool or neutral is already on a full memory foam or memory foam pillow top and that is what they are comparing to. Not 'as hot' as some but don't expect it to be similar to synthetic down or just about any material that isn't memory foam. On a scale of 1-10 where an old school springs and polyester fluff mattress is 1 for heat and a first gen tempurpedic full memory foam mattress is 10, this is a 5 for how hot it sleeps.

Finally, the mattress topper I've been looking for!

I have a Zinus foam mattresses that has begun to leave me with sore hips and shoulders because it's like sleeping on a slab of stone. I typically like firm mattresses but this one doesn't give enough under my weight. Hence the search for a topper.

I tried the Zinus 3" egg crate cooling memory foam. It was too soft and I sunk in. But it was nice and cool. Woke up with a sore lower back.

Then I tried a 2" solid/flat Zinus cooling memory foam topper. It was so soft that it had zero support. Didn't even feel like memory foam. Plus it was really hot.

I found this Milliard one and realized it was the same maker as my little dogs' memory foam beds, which are of fabulous quality.

I'm so happy! This topper is real memory foam, so it is dense and has great support. It's soft enough that I sink in where I need (side sleeper - hips & shoulders) and am supported where I need.

The egg crate shape feels good and helps with air flow. Plus the gel foam topper has little holes throughout, which makes a huge difference with cooling. I felt no increase in heat from this topper, unlike much memory foam.

It did have a strong smell upon opening but it wasn't like rotten garbage that others reported. I aired it out in a room with open windows and a ceiling fan for a couple hours and the smell was gone. It also grew to its full size within about an hour. I slept on it several hours after it arrived and noticed no smell.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. It has made my bed so much more comfortable and I'm sleeping so much better.

I had serious doubts that this mattress topper would work after unrolling it on the floor to allow it to expand. I pressed on it with my hand and I flattened it to the floor, which is carpeted. I thought there was no way this was going to work, but I gave it a try.

I have a Tempurpedic mattress with a 3-inch built-in topper for reference. I placed this topper on my mattress and slept like a baby for two or three nights after enduring a number nights of only getting 3-4 hrs of sleep due to greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS) pain. The mattress topper doesn't completely alleviate my pain issues, but it has helped quite a bit. I've had no problems with my fitted sheets fitting, but I'm not able to tuck them as quite as well as before, but that is to be expected.

I'm considering purchasing another in twin size and cutting it to shape to use in my office chair which tends to aggravate my thoracic spine from time to time.
