It works for sound abatement

Pretty sure the delivery driver cursed the whole way when unloading...these rolls are no joke and heavy! Besides that they are easily cut and work with but I recommend a second set of hands due to the weight. I can't imagine what the 2lb verizon would be like. I used this to cut strips about 18" wide to fasten to joist where there is ductwork and air returns. Not enough space for r19 or r25 fiberglass insulation but plenty of room for r13 and some MLV. So far so good. Considerably less noise in other rooms due to this. Can't wait to see how 5/8" fire rated drywall helps in the abatement as well if I ever get that gone.

I live in the Bronx and the neighbors below blast music all night till 4a.m...I've called cops, left notes, spoke in person, complained to management... I tried all non violent ways to stop the music at inappropriate times...my only other option was to move from my rent stabilized affordable apartment...I did research and found this mlv plus some fiber acoustic pads in my photo...I bought two hundred pounds (2 rolls and the pads) this method muffled the sound bass transmission by like 60-70% atleast...I only now hear like residual bass but bearable to the point where I can sleep....I also turn on my air filter to help drown out any outside noises since I live on a busy street... this mlv is super heavy!!! I first added mlv the added the pads then added the 2nd mlv on top of the pads so that's 3 layers total to combat this bass...this lifted a huge burden from my life I used to be stressed out about my situation...I would recommend this product but remember layering is the key!

Installing a Home theater on my second floor. I decided to add this as an additional barrier. I am soooo happy that I did. The theater is directly above the family room, but it blocks probably at least 20db of noise by itself. I have it coupled with 13in of R15 and 6in of Mineral Wool. You can barely hear the theater when it is cranked.
