Seaweed is good for you
diZzLE•February 25, 2017
This seaweed has a nice mild flavor, it is really good in salads and soups, as well as an accompaniment to fish. The whole leaf variety is best to cut with kitchen shears when it's still dry, it is too difficult to cut when it is wet. The product caught my attention because this seaweed is grown in the northern Atlantic and less likely contaminated with heavy metals and pollutants compared to the sources off the coast of China and Japan and in the Pacific Ocean. I eat seaweed daily for its high mineral content, including iodine.
Nice mild flavor

Seaweed is a new addition to my diet. I know that wakame is normally soaked before eating, but I decided to try this right out of the bag. It has, at least for me, a pleasant, mild "sea" flavor that I will continue to enjoy right out of the bag for an occasional snack when I'm not planning to use it in cooking. And perhaps it's wishful thinking, but I feel better about the Atlantic origin as opposed to Pacific due to radiation concerns.
Awesome stuff. I scissor pieces into a bone broth ...

Awesome stuff. I scissor pieces into a bone broth with miso and turmeric every morning. It's delicious and provides trace elements and iodide (which we don't get anymore by using sea salt). It's supposed to have a white sort of bloom, a byproduct of natural drying in the sun and sea air. It's not mold! This is top quality stuff from my home state of Maine
nasty, clumpy, and stringy

nastiest wakame ever. most wakame products rehydrate pretty much like the original seaweed. this one was like wet tissue paper. just nasty. stringy and clumpy.
Chewing

I'm not sure if you can eat the stems but even after soaking and cooking some spots are tough. Lots of chewing with my miso. Maybe that's normal with this grade of seaweed... not sure.
