Wish the clip was sturdier, really great tuner
Natasha•July 30, 2017
Disappointing that the clip is so flimsy. I want to love this tuner so much. As a music therapy intern, I loved that I could just leave it in the sound hole and not worry about remembering to pull my tuner out, and that I could discretely fix my tuning without clients really noticing. And the lights are more accurate than the LED lights on my clip-on korg. But the clip broke after not having it for too long. I bought this in January, and it broke within maybe two months. I'm looking at this again in August because I want to buy it again since I liked it so much. But I don't think it's worth buying when I know the likelihood of it breaking is so high. I wish they could make this with a sturdier clip, because I would 100% never buy a different tuner than this one. But I just can't afford to purchase something with such a high breaking rate when I'm on a budget. If you want to take your chances, feel free to buy this tuner because it's super convenient. It just might break on you.
Sound Hole Tuner verse Headstock tuner
Stanley K. Tanaka•May 3, 2017
The D'Addario NS Micro Sound Hole tuner works well and is very accurate. The tuner is very non-intrusive. I was worried that the tuner may damage the finish on my classical guitar, however this was not the case. The tuner did slightly compress some of the wood around the sound hole
I much prefer the D'Addario headstock tuner because the headstock tuner is much easier to take on and off of the guitar and is much easier to reach. I was worried that taking the sound hole tuner on and off of the guitar may eventually cause some damage my guitar.
I feel that the D'Addario headstock tuner is one of the best tuners currently on the market.

Great little tuner!

Electronic tuners are a big help these days and there are many types and styles available. I play acoustic guitar and this sound hole tuner works well for me. It's out of the way, stays on my guitar and works great! Some tuners clip on the head stock and are delicate and easily broken and need to be removed when storing your instrument. This one works well in a quiet area. It works on the vibration of the guitar top and is subject to sound vibration from other sources. I just find a quiet spot for 60 seconds and I'm all set. It's a good tuner at a great price and it's advantages far outweigh any problems for me.
I like that it is in the sound hole and not ...

I'm going to give this 5 stars though I have had one particular issue. As described in other reviews it is a bit flaky on stage with other folks tuning or playing but one learns to live with and adjust to this. I have one in each of my acoustic guitars 6 string 12 string and Ukes. I like that it is in the sound hole and not hanging on the head. The only bad news is the plastic tab. In my old D28 I've broken two so have abandoned this tuner in this instrument. Has to do with the thickness of the backing behind the sound hole. When the darn tab breaks you wind up having to fish the thing out of the guitar. As a finger-style player I am particularly unskilled at retrieval of stuff inside the guitar. This would be a better product if the tab were black metal with a soft pad on the inside like rubber or felt. Strong yet non abrasive.
Poorly made, NS Micro Clip-on tuners are better!

Unbelievable, the tab that holds the tuner in place broke off while I was placing it in the sound hole. This tuner is made of is extremely fragile plastic. I bought this about three weeks ago and there's no mention of a guarantee or warranty, so I guess I'm out fifteen bucks. I almost ordered two more, glad I didn't. I bought this tuner for two reasons; 1. The D'Addario brand, and 2. I really liked the idea of a tuner in the sound hole of the guitar instead of the headstock where I usually place them, also it's easier to see and practically hidden from outside view. On the other hand, I have more than six D'Addario NS Micro Clip-On Tuners which up till now have worked great. I have only had to change batteries after a lot of use on three acoustic and five electric guitars. These are much better in quality and although they cannot be installed in the sound hole of your acoustic guitar, you will not be frustrated and disappointed on making a money losing purchase on a very poorly made D'Addario NS Micro Sound Hole Tuner. For these NS Micro Clip-On Tuners I paid $23.24 for a two pack back in April of this year and later in July $19.75 for the same two pack. Presently the two pack is available for $18.99 (Amazon) that's $9.50 each! You cannot go wrong with these. D'Addario NS Micro Clip-On Tuner, 2 pack
