I purchased this loom without any serious study or evaluation of other available products. I watched several videos pertaining to direct warping with a RH Cricket so was convinced that I could make a doll blanket. My sweet husband made me a warping peg from some doweling and scrap wood. I proceeded to warp this RH loom in an afternoon with the aid of dark chocolate and three glasses of red wine. My only shock was discovering that to create the shed and actually weave, one must prop one end of the loom against a table or purchase the stand. Not having the stand, I propped the loom against the table and went to work. I love this loom. I cannot explain it, but it feels good to weave on.

I completed my first project over three mornings using scrap wool yarns. After completing my 1st project, I don't care for the hook provided to thread the warp thread through the heddle. The 10 dent heddle was too small for my worsted weight yard, so I purchased DK weight for warping. I agree with the previous review that stated a stand would be nice but is not essential if you have a table to prop the loom against.

If you purchase this loom, do not be put off by the teeth on the warp and cloth beams. I had no difficulties warping, and it is easy to add your own warping rods/dowels if you like. The wood on the loom is attractive, strong, and lightweight. The loom is easy to break down and store when not in use, so keep the original box. Maybe pick up some clamps to help with holding the loom in place as you warp. I used brown wrapping paper to separate the threads on the warping beam. Overall, I'm thrilled with the loom and cannot wait to start another project.

Beautiful loom. There is a huge price jump between this loom and other rigid heddles- I feel like the simple design makes this one the best deal. The wooden frame allows for some preferential tweaks if desired, but they are not necessary. I sit in the floor with mine and prop it on a table right above the heddleblock, as this gives a place for the heddle to secure under the heddle block so I can still be hands free. Lots of control with a simple loom like this one- just famtastic.

Very simple very basic loom. It works as it should. Very good for a first loom.
