I love this lamp. I'm sure there are more quality versions out there, but for a basic model this thing is awesome. My kids love flipping through the colors, and I can use the clear plastic cover as a reading light. It doesn't have a timer, but usually I leave it spinning one or two colors and then switch it to solid white for a night light. Since we got this, my six year old has been less afraid of the dark. He's willing to have the lights off just to see the stars. Tonight, when the power went out, we unplugged it from the wall and dug out some batteries for it and the familiar stars offered a whole world of comfort for my scared kid. It's a winner.

I was really excited to get this light, thinking it could add a fun "surprise" when folks passed by my darkened living room. To start with, when the reviews say it only shows well in a small room, think: small bathroom with a table in the middle. If it's too close to one wall it shows well on that wall but it looks like flying blobs across the room. The moon and star templates on my unit were not well cut and had smudges inside the moon and stars that prevent them from showing with any clarity. Wish I had returned it on time. It's a piece of junk. Maybe more expensive models perform better, but this one, even at "Lightning Deal" prices, was a waste of $12. Also, it makes a bit noise - too much noise to allow for resting or sleep. Note that you'll need a usb-to-2-or-3-pronged-wall-plug adapter to run the light from the wall outlet.

I was not expecting much from this. It was smaller than I expected, but I gave it a whirl due to the good reviews on here. My six year old nephew is a total space nut, and instead of painting an entire galaxy on his walls and ceiling like he wanted, I figured this would be a simpler alternative. When I gave it to him, and he wanted to plug it in right away. It only comes with a USB chord, so you have to find or buy a wall plug-in for it. When we turned it on, it was the greatest thing ever! Very impressed. I figured we'd have to hold it close to the walls to see it, but it shone so bright, it filled the entire room. We were all very impressed. There are plenty of settings and colors, he will never get bored of it. It was so cool, I might get another one for myself. It's small, so it won't take up a lot of room, and quiet if you want to use it as a night light. Lots of colors and combinations, and it spins! I was not let down, and the cool aunt comes through once again for Christmas!! :)

I purchased this for my son, who is five, and was having trouble sleeping in his own bed. He really liked it right away and it has helped keep him in his room all night.
This little light really puts on a show. It projects stars and moons on the ceiling and walls of your room. It works for any sized room (I tried it in our living room and two different bedrooms). There are several color options for the lights (white, blue, green, and red) and you can chose one or all colors or any combination. You can also have them alternate. There is an option to have the dome rotate, which is our favorite setting. As it spins, the stars and moons slowly glide around your room. It really is beautiful and relaxing. I want one of these for my room! I'm having another baby and will probably get one for the nursery, too.
I do wish there was an option to get one with a green base (that's my son's favorite color). Also, the rotate function stopped working a few days ago 😦. I think my son dropped the lamp at some point. If we tap it a certain way, it will sometimes start again or it will randomly start after leaving it on for a while.

Adorable concept! I love the idea of having starry twinkling lights as a night light for my infant. I found two design flaws that make this difficult to use, as much as I want to.
-First, in order to get the full effect this has to be sitting on something of medium height in the middle of the room. I have not been able to find a place to put this in where large coverage of the stars shows on the ceiling and wall, and my little one can see from her crib. One would presumably want a night light on an end table, and if this is what you intend to use it for be considerate of the shape and don't expect a large smattering of stars evenly throughout the room.
-second- turning this thing off is a learning lesson in and of itself. Other reviewers have detailed the process (I can't for the life of me remember and have to fumble each time clicking buttons)- but it does require going through different color options and clicking through before getting to off.
With an infant on my hands im all about simplicity and ease of use, and this doesn't meet those expectations. I'm saving for when she's older and can hopefully enjoy it more.
