Best whistles in this price range

These whistles are surprisingly good. They play very well in tune and have great tone. Playing over the octave break is easy on these; pitches sound easily and clearly. Having tunable instruments is a must. If you ever play with other musicians, you need the ability to tune to others, not force everyone else to tune to your fixed pitch. The only downside is that the top joint (fipple end) on the D whistle is a little loose. This could be an isolated issue with just the one I purchased. It wasn't so loose as to be truly problematic though. I think these are the best whistles you can buy in this price range. The two-whistle case is a nice bonus. Oddly, my case came with a fingering chart for baroque soprano recorder. I see that the Woodi company also makes recorders, so someone just screwed up. Not a big deal for me, but a beginner would be very confused by this wrong set of fingerings.

The whistles themselves seem to be of decent quality. The sound (considering the fact that I really haven't used a "recorder" style woodwind for a long, long time) is crisp and clean - and any discrepancy in the actual sound itself may simply be from my lack of experience in playing them.

However... In looking at the "Baroque System Recorder Fingering Chart" that came with these whistles, I'm completely confused. The whistle diagrammed on the chart apparently has eight holes: Little finger, third finger, middle finger, index finger, third finger, middle finger, index finger, and thumb. The chart itself is fantastic - except for the fact that neither one of the whistles have 8 holes. Each whistle has 6 holes.

Now, I can always look up a fingering chart online. That's easy enough to do, thank you Google. But... That's really my only complaint: fingering chart does not match the instrument purchased. Other than that, i think they'll be great starters to learn on.
Love them.

Very pleasantly surprised with these whistles. They appear to be well constructed, and they sound great. I do not have much to compare, my other whistle is a Feadog, but again, am very pleased. Both whistles arrived in a zippered case, with a slot for each whistle, and a third slot for a sheet with instructions and a fingering chart. Conveniently, the third slot has enough room to also carry my other whistle. The whistles are 2 piece, allowing for a degree of tuning, if needed.
and I found it hard to get a good low tone on my Feadog brass pennywhistle

Arrived in a decent little case, both play superbly. I'm a beginner (percussion experience only), and I found it hard to get a good low tone on my Feadog brass pennywhistle. Both of these ABS plastic whistles make it a lot easier. Upper register is pretty loud, and requires quite a bit more air than my brass whistle, but it's a worthy tradeoff for being easier to hit lower register notes. Sound is warm and beautiful. Would recommend highly!
Awesome Sounding Great Value

Wouldn't expect a "plastic " whistle to sound so beautiful AND be easy to blow lightly. Surprise!!!
These two are keepers. Great for beginners who want to sound good from the start.
