Well made, hard steel blade, easy to resharpen as needed.
A Modern Ronin•April 22, 2018
Well made spear. I have really abused mine testing the strength of the spearhead and how long it would keep an edge after being thrown directly into a fallen tree. I now throw it into a foam or straw target to keep the blade sharper longer. More importantly the blade didn't warp, chip or break. All I had to do was sharpen the edge again after about a month of throwing into wood. Since switching to straw and foam targets I only have to sharpen the blade every couple of months. Handle is a hardy plastic material with a metal piece handle that encases where you screw the two halves of the spear together. My only criticism would be the weight distribution, slightly too top heavy. However right out of the box I was accurate within 10 ft in under an hour of practice.

Sweet spear, I am 6 foot and it is tall enough to use as a walking stick with a few inches to spare under the blade. It is certainly heavy for a walking stick but some added protection from wildlife is worth the extra weight to me.
Functional heavy spear built for Hercules

This spear, part of the United Cultery M48 line suffers from being overbuilt on the blade part. The blade is a massive and thick blade with an equally massive tang that extends into the handle. This huge amount of steel creates a very heavy spear that is unbalanced and very very front heavy. Yes it is still usable and functional but be aware of its flaws.
