Bought Mine as a Spare for When I Wear Out My Current NeatConnect
Joe Urh✓ Verified Purchase•August 8, 2017
I bought this as a spare since Neat is no longer manufacturing their own scanner hardware and I love my neat connect so much I want to have a back-up when I wear out my current NeatConnect. I anticipate another 2-3 years with my current one -- they are well built and I REALLY like the cloud integration -- I don't even hook my NeatConnect to my home computer, I scan them in straight to the cloud and then download the receipts and docs back down to my home computer -- creates an instantaneous backup of everything!
Works great just as advertised.

There were a lot of negative reviews about the previous versions of the Neat scanner. I looked at one a couple years ago and decided not to buy it. I am very glad I waited. The new one is a very good product. I have used it for a few weeks and it was worked perfectly. Still learning about the machine and I am sure there are features that I have not found yet but I am very happy with the purchase. Its a little pricy but if you deal with a lot of paperwork I would recommend you get this product. If all you are doing is day to day bills for personal taxes its probably not for you. I deal with 4000 to maybe 8000 documents a year in my business and it is a great organizational tool. If your personal taxes can fit in a small binder you probably don't need it but even with that I am sure it would help if your willing to spend the money. Before you start you do need to give a lot of thought to how you want to organize your documents. Its not hard just think to save time in the future. I made that mistake and had to scan some of my docs. That is very important but it is very versatile. I was concerned about the speed it would feed the pages through the scanner and paper jams. Thinking about how the old fax machines would feed multiply pages at then same time and not feed each page separately. It has not done that once. It is very quick. 16 pages feeds through in seconds and they are very clear. I only use the black and white. I am sure color would slow it down. I use it for my business and color is not necessary but it in an option. It easily switches from one to two sided copies and still is very quick. To summarize it works and it a very handy tool. As you can see I bought the higher end model and that is what I would recommend. Hope this helps someone. Post any questions and I would be to glad to answer if I can.
Great 2-sided scanner with ADF
Glynn Brooks•March 12, 2016
The scanner does a quick and accurate job with all the business cards, forms, and receipts I throw at it. The only time I have trouble feeding it is when the bottom edge of a paper is curled, but overall I am pleased with the ADF and the scanner versatility.
The software is quirky. Using the automatic setting, it often gets confused about what is a Receipt and what is a Document, but it is easy to tell it to switch the type after it is scanned. Oddly, a Receipt that has colored printing or a letterhead is converted to pure black/white, but if you switch the type to Document, the PDF is in color. I have quit using the Automatic setting and just scan everything as a 2-sided Document.

It is a good machine and they do have a great support team
MyCryForHelp•October 17, 2015
Ok, so I have been using Neat for some time now. It is a good machine. Yes it has it's good and bad stuff about it as other people have said...However, today I decided to post a review, this is my first time ever posting. I had a big problem. Something happened and my Neat program would not open. This is bad, I have over 2000 receipts that are important, and to make a long story short, Neat crashed and there was some kind of error with my database and possibly lost.........I went to www.neat.com and I did a live chat with a person named Leila. She asked if she could remote control my pc, I allowed her and within 1 hr, she was able to use a special tool to fix my database. Voila, problem solved. So while it is not a perfect machine, the support team and Leila, did try to help me and in the end, took care of me. I wish other companies would hire competent people like Leila because they can save the day.
NeatDesktop usage for professional document purposes
Charles Leggette•October 15, 2014
I am a professional developer so my standards for the graphical user interface [GUI] are quite high for any software. I also have a keen eye for methods and implementation strategies and particularly performance. I have been using Neat for about a month. I use it almost every day. I am not an employee of Neat, or any company with which they are associated. I do not know anyone who uses Neat other than myself.
For receipts, it is about 95% accurate although my usage has been low and the quality of the receipts was poor.
For two-sided and one-sided business cards , i have loaded 121 cards. I have had to edit about 5 or 6 mostly because the card printer got exceptionally creative.
In all of these areas, Neat performance exceeds my expectations. One option of great usefulness is that it converts[as an option], image based PDF files to searchable PDF files. This comes at a small performance price, so it should not be selected on all PDF files.
I am pleased to recommend Neat as a worthy and useful product.
