Better than Fitbit, but only just...

First the positives. You don't EVER have to recharge it and the app tells you when your battery is about to be too low giving you ample time to get a new one. Because you don't EVER have to recharge it, you can wear it ALL the time.
Now the negatives. I found that it didn't record sleep very well. I am in the habit of reading for a while in bed before I nod off. I usually take a quick glance at the time before lights out. Sometimes that can be an hour. The Misfit records that as sleep. It's not, obviously, so I usually end up editing the sleep time most every day.
IT GETS LOST TOO EASILY! Mine hasn't fallen out of the bracelet, but the clip doesn't hold well enough. I lost mine today while it was clipped to the INSIDE of my shirt pocket. I'm now convinced that the only safe way to handle this tracker is to wear it on a bracelet during the night, that way the worst you can do is lose it in bed. Otherwise, just put it DEEP into a pants pocket and check on it regularly.

I have nothing but good things to say about the Misfit Shine 2

I have nothing but good things to say about the Misfit Shine 2. First: Looks - it looks beautiful, and doesn't scream "fitness tracker" - particularly if you get one of the leather or metal wristbands for it. It's smooth, shiny, lightweight and stylish. Second: Functionality. I haven't checked to see its absolute accuracy, but I LOVE that it's waterproof and uses a watch battery. With previous step trackers, I'd have to remove it to shower or charge, and forget to put it back on. This I can just leave on all the time. As for the bad and loss issue, Misfit has addressed this with a new band design. The Shine 2s are now (as of fall, 2017) shipping with a sport band that has a back on the holding part, instead of a thin rubber ring around the edges. I wear it in the pool, in the shower, to sleep, and haven't had any issue with it falling out. The app works well, though I haven't tried the lap swimming upgrade, and overall it's a great tracker.
Simple and functional activity tracker

I've been using my misfit for a few months mostly wearing it on my wrist.
For me, it seems to do a decent job of tracking activity.
However I am mostly walking. When I compare the misfit data to a GPS tracker on my phone, the misfit typically underestimates the distance walked by 30% or so. It appears to do a fairly accurate job of tracking my sleep.
When I ride a bike, it doesn't track my motion well at all. Maybe I didn't set it up correctly, not sure.
I have not tested it swimming yet.
It has not fallen out of the wrist holder like some older reviews have experienced.
All in all, for a $40 price tag I think it is a good value. If you want to be more quantitative in your activity tracking, one will need to spend more for a higher end device.
One more comment, the fact that it doesn't need charging is a great plus. Not having another device that requires charging simplifies my electronic landscape.

Love it!

I really love my Misfit, the tracker is sleek and impressive - I get so many compliments on it, and it does exactly what it is meant to do! I love the little lights that indicate progress and time of day. The design is elegant and futuristic. The only issue I've had with it is the notorious band thing that many others report. However, after I lost my tracker, the amazing customer support staff replaced my shine 2 quickly. Highly recommend this fabulous product!
Beautiful and it works.

One of my best purchase this year. It is very modern, classy and does only what I want it to do. I have no allergy with it (contrary to the fidbit that gives me eczema). It seems fairly accurate to me, but I don't do high intensity exercises.
As the other customers said it does pop out of the bracelet, but I switched to a metal one (which is way more stylish) and I have not had one problem since then (2 month ago). I finally found the perfect tracker for me.
EDIT: after 6 months, I can confirm that it remains my best purchase this year. I haven't been one week without someone asking me where I got my "Cool" watch. I changed the battery after 5 months but I sync it once a week only. I had no problem when travelling in Europe. It adjusted itself after I synced it with my phone (which has to be synced with the local wifi as well obviously). I will repurchase immediately if it fails.
