Most steamer trays or baskets legs are too short and food ends up getting drenched with boiling water. This item is 2 3/4 inches high and can be placed in any medium or large pan to convert to a steamer pan. You can put a steamer basket on top and be clear of the boiling water by at least 1 to 1 1/2 inches. I put corn on the cob directly on it for steaming. There's still room for a lid in a pan that's 5 inches or more deep. Works perfect. Can be used for a place to put hot dishes or pans also. Great product!

This review is for the shortest rack - and, I bought it specifically for use in a 6 qt Instant Pot. The rack is very sturdy, well made, and a perfect height for placing my 7" X 4" Fat Daddios cake pan on - which I use for making meat loaf in my Instant Pot. Also, the stand is a perfect height for using other containers holding meals to be steamed/pressure cooked in the Instant Pot. I also bought the tallest rack and use it when I desire to stack foods in the Instant Pot - veggies on the bottom of the inner pot with the water, then the rack, then using a shorter cake pan on top of the rack holding whatever else I'm cooking. I looked at a lot of different steam racks sold on Amazon and these appeared to be the sturdiest. I'm happy with the weight and workmanship of these racks.

Does what it does. No surprises. I use it for any pot-in-pot cooking just to prevent any chance of 'burn alarm' from my Instantpot. Haven't tried it for steaming vegetables but the grate is fairly wide so it would only really work with large vegetables like asparagus or an entire crown of broccoli.
Sturdy for everyday use.

The steam rack was a medium as far as being a heavy duty item. It holds up well to being used a lot. As all kitchen equipment, you need to use with care. I really love the ability of cooking items under the rack as well as on the rack.
