So far, so good.
Have played with all kinds of humidifiers for almost forty years no. Little plastic sticks and boxes with special materials from faraway galaxies, electronic humidifiers with proprietary (read: expensive) cartridges, propylene glycol, florist foam, distilled water. Turned out the shortcuts were nonexistent or just stupid expensive.
I like Boveda. So far, I've been able to go a couple months on a packet (in a large, properly seasoned humidor) without worrying. Even decided to re-season an old humidor for the second place. Gave up on two humidors years ago because maintenance/timing got to be a bother and good cigars were being lost"¦ a shame.

Wow, this was easy. Take pack out of package. Put pack in humidor, touching cigars or not touching them. A few hours later humidity stabilized at what I wanted it to be. I've been screwing around for weeks, opening lid for an hour or two, trying to figure out how to saturate this sponge, dealing with built-in sponges that have magnetics and failed adhesives, et cetera et cetera.
Never again. Boveda 4 life!
Just for kicks I looked at the safety data sheets for these packs. Basically it's water, ions, and a thickener/gel former, packed in a membrane that can pass water vapor by osmosis. The 72% pack is sodium chloride, potassium chloride, and xanthan gum. Non-toxic, totally normal food grade stuff. No worries!

I purchased this item to put into the humidor I bought my husband for our anniversary. After using PH solutions and all types of DIY ideas, I figured I'd help him take the guess work out of the humidor balance. He's in heaven and his humidor is happy! I will be purchasing the Boveda packs at a different percentage to put in my guitar cases during long storage. Great products!

works great. stuck these in a plastic bag with my cigars while i was re-seasoning my humidor with the 84% pack. after putting my cigars back, the humidity is steady, and my cigars are recovering from being too dried out. the only thing I wish the manufacturer would clarify is if the packs maintain the same RH% at all temperatures. but since temp is pretty steady in the humidor, RH is steady too. I have not tested it.

It does what it is supposed to do, I can't really say much more than that. It has been the easiest way to keep my cigars at the proper level of humidity. I was always screwing around with the gel jars, or refilling the distilled water trays...etc. This by far is the easiest and the best way to keep the humidity level constant.
